Sounds a lot like Berube vs. The Players

Berube comments and views are interesting to me. He wasn't a skilled player during his time in the NHL. In fact he still holds the league record for penalty minutes by a player, so his expectations area llittle hard to take serious from a guy who was a limited role player who wasn't even on his rosters to play hockey.

It does sound like Berube vs his players. How could he state that Bellemare has to work harder and yet he rolls the Zombie and Vinny out there every night.

Coburn's first full season, he scored 9 goals and 27 assists for 36 points. Pretty decent offensive numbers. The following season 7 goals and 21 assists. His offensive game dwindled from there. It seemed like he was coached to become less of a two way defenseman, to concentrate on becoming a defensive stay at home type. He had that ability when he was younger. Where did it go?
- MJL

Coached or forced out of the role. In a short time came Matt Carle, Chris Pronger and Andrej Meszaros and from there never stood a chance. Meszaros could barely see PP time.

If nick cousins continues on this pace he's a pretty good bet to be the top candidate for the 4C spot I'd think right? He looked good in preseason I think he could be a gem in that role. Not sure how he is in face offs though

most pads are on the blocky side these days. for some reason, emery uses the Brian's GNetik line - which is designed to be flexible, soft, and for the hybrid goalie, but his are modded to be more like their SubZero line which is a butterfly pad, stiffer, and with a single break in the outer roll, no internal break. it's odd.

I think Bellemare does a lot of good things for this team. I definitely don't agree with scratching him Saturday. However, Bellemare doesn't exactly play with grit or an edge. He also doesn't strike me to be a natural scorer and these are his own issues, not whom he's playing with.

Crouse, Strome and Zacha intrigue me because they all have size, but decent mobility. Zacha also has that Ivan Drago hair style that makes him look like a Bond Villian in training

Considering Giroux takes nearly every big faceoff for this team, I'm not even sure that should hold him back

I'm all for giving anybody a chance who displays hockey sense, the ability to complete passes at an NHL level, and understands how to backcheck

That doesn't mean he has to be a complete player from the second he hits the lineup. But anybody who can do those three things right now should be a consideration for the Flyers lineup

Because they aren't trying to generate trade interest for Bellemare.

Berube lost me by making a comment stating that him and Hartnell were friends prior to the first Blue Jackets game, and then Hartnell came out and stated the opposite. Since then most of his comments just seem transparent.

I am fairly neutral on Berube, tbh -- think he got dealt just as short a deck as Laviolette did, as far as roster composition

But it's also fair to say that neither of them has always made decisions that always make sense to any number of people

He's rubbed me the wrong way all season. And that is after he had completely won me over last year. I'm starting to see shades of Torts in Burube.

He doesn't play with an edge nor is he a natural goal scorer, however he was not brought here to do either of those things. He has speed and will work hard up and down the ice. He has been doing that IMO.
There is a few other guys who should be in the press box before Bellemare.

Speaking of dreams- that post up there where Hammar linked us to Rayzor's new pads, and someone commented that it looked like concrete blocks spraypainted or whatever...

Yeah...I swear to (frank)ing christ I read that before. Deja vu man. Trippy.

I hate that poop.

Freaks me out.

Please continue on and ignore my braindead ramblings.

Wayne Gretzky and Bill Barber.

Both immensely skilled. Both unsuccessful head coaches.

You guys are gonna hate more then you guys already do but I think I'd fire Berube and consider John Tortorella only second to Babcock. Love or hate his style, he gets result and he knows Lecavalier and Del Zotto both. These two have found success under Torts.

Still think Barber got screwed over, though -- still think Clarke needed to move players first

Clarke was right in that you can't always get rid of the players, but sometimes, you need to remind guys that they are employees

Boucher was the only one who got moved, and from how I understand the situation, he shouldn't have been alone
