“It’s going to be a competitive camp,” Sanheim added. “There are 10 guys competing for seven spots so it’s going to be a battle. I’m really looking forward to the competition, getting to work and hopefully earning a spot.”

“I want to show the Hockey Canada guys that I belong. Hopefully I can prove that,” Sanheim said.

In reality 2 goals from your bottom three lines over NINE games is astounding.

I don't think anyone is getting on the horn to shop Coots but I'm sure they're all ears for anything that might improve this team's future.

Meh... what can't I replace cheaper in August that's heading out the door?

Not all of them are going to find homes anyhow. So I'll take what's left and fill in with youth and cheaper plugs than the plugs I traded at the deadline and on draft day.

It may not improve D play significantly right away but at least there's potential for some growth at that point.

- mayorofangrytown

That would be a great environment for young defenseman trying to break into the NHL. Surround them with a bunch of plugs.

When Snider speaks to the media in a negative tone, it means something is likely to happen. Glad it too him all of two months to forget that Hextall told him he needed to be patient.
- Jsaquella

You have to understand where this dude is coming from, though -- he'll never accept losing, which is good.

But where he has always drawn the line is not being competitive. And I don't fault him for that. Right now, the Flyers have 10 forwards who can't score at ES. They just can't score. They can defend, barely. And they're at risk of getting ran out of the rink against good teams, far too often.

It doesn't matter why, or why not. The bottom line is that Snider might put up with some poop, but he's not putting up with getting shut out three times in 8 days, while looking like poop and giving up 1,000 shots to the Islanders, who looked like they weren't even playing the same sport you were.

I'm not saying there have to be bad trades, or youth for age.

But yeah, if Big Ed's saying, "I want something fixed, because this is bullpoop, and I'm not waiting 59 more games for Chief to figure out who to (frank)ing scratch," then I'm all for it.

Because there are things they can do. They don't have to sit idly by and get their faces kicked in every night.

I like him, just think he's saying something for the sake of saying something. He is a talking head, after all.
- feelingkettle

A couple days ago he was Dave Naylor talking about the Oilers plight this season. Change some names and he might as well have been talking about the Flyers.

It's funny to me he blasts their depth when he was a good reason as to why they traded it away and the picks needed to build it back up.

I don't think Snider is going in inject himself into the decision making. I think it Hextall's call.

The Flyers are never going to be the Oilers of the last decade. Not while Snider's in charge.

They're not going to do it. Again, it doesn't mean they have to make bad moves. But Snider's not going to accept them playing like poop for multiple seasons, then wait for the draft lottery.

He's not going to do it.

I think the Flyers need to approach next season with possibly two open spaces for young defenseman. They might only need one. They have to decide which 5 to keep.

As always: The truly powerful never have to tell an underling exactly what to do.

They just have to start talking in generalities. And poop gets done

There are a lot of similarities in what brought both clubs to where they are this season.

They might not have travel the exact same path but they've done some things in slightly different ways that you can really see in their current rosters.

Ghost really showed he needs more time imo. With that injury I am not sure you can really call this a good development year as is. I don't want him up here.

Maybe if they had a good steady mentor in Timonen, but nobody is close to that now. I do think they want Morin up here sooner than later.

That's a recipe for continued disaster with the D on this club. Keeping five of these guys? No way. I keep three tops and I'm going to consider myself stuck with two of them.
