Nieto and Thornton for vinny coots and l schenn
- Just5

I want nothing to do with Thorton. Yes his 2 years left is attractive if Vinny or RJ are going the other way but say no to Joe. This team needs youth and future assets not older vets.

Management is not ready to rebuild- fine. Fire the coach and see what it does.

When nothing happens, then...

I think this team and fans need to embrace a rebuild ASAP. Start selling the idea of hope from all the wonderful prospects in the pool to fans to stay with you. Start playing vets tons of minutes to sell them off ASAP or at the trade deadline if needed.

Not embracing the rebuild lead to RJ being on this team. This team was toast once Timonen went down, in fact it was bad prior. Embrace the rebuild ASAP.

Not enough speed to dump and chase, not enough skill to carry it in is no way to go through hockey season, son
- AllInForFlyers

If I could choose two players from this bunch to move forward with once the youth of Travis Sanheim, Sam Morin, Shayne Gostisbehere and Robert Hagg are ready, I'd have to say Brayden Coburn and Luke Schenn.

I expect Sanheim and Hagg to bring anything MacDonald already brings now in two seasons of seasoning. This could possibly be Streit's last contract in the NHL. I expect Grossmann's injuries and overall physical play to catch up with him. I think it's possible Morin fills some of Grossmann's void but I don't believe Morin can dominate alone, which is why I would continue with Luke Schenn. Brayden Coburn is a perfect compliment to any top pair in the NHL.

Now, I didn't forget Del Zotto. The problem with him is, he's streaky. I think he'll either play well enough to drive up his price and price himself off the team or stink again. I think the expectation is that Shayne Gostisbehere could fill a Del Zotto like role on this team.

Grossman has been playing well lately. I try to trade him ASAP. Del Zotto as well if he has any value. Coburn I am less interested in trading but open to if the price is right (high). Rebuild!

Del Zotto, if they can keep him two more years to give Gostisbehere time to develop that would be ideal.

But I would be hesitant beyond a two year deal at this point.

They need to get these kids out of the minors and into the NHL where the reckless quotient is lower and they won't get injured. They'll all be broken before we get to see them.

You are lenient. I fire coach face punch after this West Coast failure and then embrace the rebuild in early January.

I guess in retrospect I'm glad I was unable to watch any of the last three Flyers games. Cripes, what a Bryzaster.

Ed Snider saying he's never seen anything like this before in all his years of hockey makes me believe he's in the early stages of memory loss. Those of us who've been around for many a year have seen poopshows like this before, although (thankfully) they have been few and far between.

As long as we don't become Toronto south and finish in 9th place like 9 years in a row, I think I'll be able to retain some vestige of sanity, perhaps not though.

They recently did the Top 25 best players and Buccigross, who is relatively knowledgeable about hockey, said of Giroux "not point per game player in the regular season" although he's been over a point per game the last 4 years and has a career 0.92 PPG average. Now there is no one left to trust about hockey at ESPN.
- NickTheKid87

I may be late about this, but Buccigross was very ardent to point out he was not involved in the making of the list, and I'm not sure any of the quoted material in his tweets regarding the list were his words, but words from the article.

And it is true that Giroux is not a point per game player over his career in the regular season. Since tweets are by definition short and often taken out of context of bigger articles, I suspect pointing out not PPG in the regular season is to contrast that he is a PPG player over his career in the playoffs.

and my point is it's not exactly reasonable to throw the baby out with the bathwater, especially when the baby wasn't in the bathwater in the first place. I'm not really sure what you're getting at here.

We're in the same boat here then, because I'm not really sure what you're getting at here.

The main point I'm trying to get across, is that just because a media member offers an opinion on a player or a team, no matter how well regarded that source is, doesn't make it a fact. It's just an opinion.
