If you think Kimmo is done than you can use his 2M on him for 2 years and I think that is a good bridge to see what is really there...
- JW98FlyerFan

For the Flyers to retain his rights, as an RFA, his qualifying offer will be 2.8M. Do you think he'll sign a 2 year deal for 2M a year?

Wait: you would trade Wayne Simmonds 1-for-1 for Devante Smith Pelley or Matt Belesky?

I would trade Read and a defender. I also think Simmonds would garner a very nice package. I would pretty much make anyone other then Giroux, Voracek, Laughton and Couturier available. I know you can't trade everyone but I would do my best if out of it at the TDL to move guys to create some financially flexability and also begin to build the roster to the way i want them playing.

I really don't want to trade B. Schenn

This is why I SPECIFICALLY said good hands around the net. So that there would be no misconstruing. I guess I still failed.
- MBFlyerfan

No I understood.. Im just saying a lot of times people will just say Simmonds has good hands. That is not even remotely true.

He is a good net front presence and a physical player. He is very good at what he does. Playing with the puck on his stick is not that.

I think he gets a raw deal overall. He's such a good player and does everything he can to help this team win. I literally can't think of anything else he can do to make this team better. He takes more face offs than any other player in hockey, he plays on the PK a lot over the last few years, he scores at a pace unmatched over the last 4 years, he's the major reason the power play is always in the top 10 (top 5 most years) and he's the primary reason this team hasn't fallen apart since the Richards carter trades.

he seems to treat the media pretty well and has always been a good sport about fan obligations like autographs and such.

The national and local media constantly criticizes him for things he can't control. I just don't know what more people want from him. It's like they want him to be the super bobby Gretzky Clark Foppa.

I think there's no way Kimmo plays again. He said this season was his last, and he has no reason to ever play again.

But if we can sign MDZ for $2M per/2 years, I'm down.

- jmatchett383

I really, really would love that... but for some reason, I'm thinking he's going to want at least $3+... call me a pessimist.. but agents these days are money-hungry termites. I say his agent talks him into thinking he's worth bigger bucks, and he asks for the 3+.

Hope not though... I hope he holds some sort of loyalty to the Flyers for the second chance he's been given, and that he realizes it's been one season... he still has to prove he can continue doing it.

I seriously doubt that with the way that Lecavalier is playing right now, that any team is going to take on 3 more years of Lecavalier just to gain a 2/3 pick or a B prospect.

I don't have any problem with him in general. I think he's a great player and, aside from his crazy night in Ottawa, seems like a generally good guy. He's a great team player and is obviously the best player on the team since the 2011 shake-up. But that doesn't make him a great captain, to me any more than Briere would have been from 2007 - 2010.

No, like I said, 2 years at $3M per is okay with me, not sure how high I'd go though. That was in response to the guy who said to use the $2M for Kimmo on him. No way he does that, although I'd love it.

Canada WJC camp has three invitees from the QMJHL: Gauthier, Fucale and Morin

Morin and Sanheim both invited, looks like Flyers ae only team with two invitees among Dmen

Without being in the locker room, it's impossible to judge a captain. I just base it what I see and I'm not sure what else people want from him. I think the whole captaincy is overrated anyway. Every team needs multiple leaders. Not sure how the C or the A has any significance. I guess it's so the media and fans know who to blame and go to after a loss.

I think e would do a 2Yr deal at the 2.8M if the Flyers offered it to him, I am not seeing anyone breaking down the doors to throw a bigger offer at him...plus if he comes out on the right end of that contract with the Flyers he could be looking a big payday at the end of the bridge contract...
