The problem is that any coach willing to stick with Manuel, given his body of work, and given this situation, is simply begging to be fired. The coaches don't believe in him and the players didn't really believe in him. Marrone was very close to losing that locker room if the reports were to be believed. The real fault lies in not addressing the backup quarterback position in the offseason, and waiting until after training camp to do so.

Even RG3 is a short-term answer. The problem with these "read option" quarterbacks is that they aren't incredibly durable. If you want a long term answer for a championship caliber quarterback, he needs to be a pocket passer, and have a line that can at least keep him upright for an average of at least 3 seconds per play.

I guess that's the safest option then. Although, it would be best if we could get him a nice contract before the seasons over but as whaley has stated he doesnt like to do that because its distracting to players. Hughes definitely has shown he deserves it. Id like to lock him in buffalo long term.
