How many picks do you possibly need? I mean really another pick. Sign Stewart and keep him.
- SABRES 89

Stewart is ok. He's not as bad as every analytical genius would have you believe and he's also not as good as some of his previous seasons would have you believe.

I can take him or leave him as a 3rd line RW.

I'm not trading him for another pick that we don't need.

Enough with the picks, we need some players that can play not more picks that take another 5 years to work out.

You don't have to use the picks. They can be traded. They are assets.

We got Josh Gorges with one of those picks we "didn't need"

I see him and Foligno as the same player.

One will be making around 4 mil per on his next contract

One isn't

I'll take the one that isn't.

If Stewart is willing to be the one that drops the gloves, I'd take him over McCormick or a John Scott type any day.

Problem is like you said, he's going to make a lot of money next contract

He strikes me as the kind of player who will just coast through games after he lands his contract.

Not every team will be willing to move a player for a pick, the Habs had to get something.

But we need really good players....which Stewart is not

Take him if he's cheap, dump him if he costs a lot

There always seems to be a team every year thats looking to move players out for picks and start fresh.

Murray's proven he's capable of that with the Gorges trade and the trade for Neuvirth.(Fasching as well but he's still an unknown)

He's not a player at a position of need either. If you can move him for picks then use those to address a weak point this off-season I say go for it.

Me too. I would take him as a stop gap depth player. But if you could get a good return I'm down

They didn't have to do anything. He wasn't about to be a UFA. It's not like he was going to walk away and leave them with nothing in return. They chose to move him and were apparently content with just getting a pick.

After he told the Leafs no, then they still wanted to move him and only got a pick. We don't need anymore picks.

You're missing the point. You said they had to move him. They didn't have to. They wanted to. If they hadn't, he would still be there playing this year contributing in some way. He wouldn't have walked away.

I'm not a fan of Stewart. He's got 3 goals this year. Big whoop. He's being outscored by a guy that's 20 years old. If Murray wants to resign him, then it needs to be done prior to the TDL. If it's not, then they should move him for some sort of asset (pick, player, prospect, etc) so that they're getting something for him. It's better than just letting him walk at the end of the year for nothing.

Baptiste and Reinhart invited to Team Canada selection camp.

Side note: I think close to 80% of that team shoots left
