Being from Edmonton and surrounded by Oiler Fans we were throwing out trade proposals last night as both teams are really spinning their wheels
How about Perron and J Schultz for the Schenns. Not sure of cap hits but I think it is pretty close. My Friends were all over that trade.

Umberger is playing hurt. I am 100% convinced of this.
He had never recovered from whatever back or disc problem he had last year.
Only explanation for his huge and rapid decline.
If I were the GM I'd have the team docs put him on LTIR.

It's not sarcasm. As bad as we are, you want to trade maybe our only legit top 4 d man? I'd love to see a d where we've got two 5 6 slotted guys as our top pair. Problem isn't that Coburn blows. It's that with losing pronger timonen Carle in recent years. Everyone is slotted two spots higher than they can handle. It's a mess and I can't see it getting better with dumping Coburn.

I just don't see Philly and EDM being good trading partners.

I mean to make a 'hockey' trade that helps both teams.

Both need a number one defenseman.

Maybe the Flyers could trade a center for a winger.
But really if the Flyers are keeping Couts then they won't get the winger they want.

Not only that, but when a team's overall team play is in shambles. It's practically impossible to evaluate a defenseman. They always get the blame.

Have top put the young players development first. If keeping Leier down in the AHL is the best thing for him, then that's what you do.

If there is not a Phantom ready then get someone else.

The team needs to start getting guys for the right roles.

Obviously getting the big need of a #1 D is unlikely to happen during the season.

But getting a legit 4th line winger is not nearly as hard.

For you guys who get to go to Flyer games on a regular basis.

Are there fans that wear Umberger jersey's ?

I don't like Lecavalier on the 4th line either. Not my idea of a 4th line player. But if he's not going to produce offensively, then what good is he. Have to cut his minutes. Same with Umberger. Flyers can put a legit 4th line together without a problem. But they have to play Lecavalier somewhere, or scratch him. Not going to break up that Laughton line or the top line. Lecavalier is not a fit on the Couturier line in my opinion.

Playoffs are still a possibility.

Perron did score 29 goals last year on a very bad team playing at best second line minutes and we would get rid of everyone's whipping boy in Luke.

Bill...any truth to the rumor that Berube is considering "healthy scratching" the entire top line for today's game? Seems only fair IMO since the rest of the team has basically had the last two weeks off.

i don't think trading coburn (or read or couts or???) makes them better this year. i think they have to decide what this year really is. if they think they can salvage a run to the postseason then you stand pat or make a tweak.

if you think they just can't avoid these lengthy fits of terrible play, then i think you have to trade the assets they have and get some picks in what is supposed to be a deep draft or trade for picks and younger players/prospects.

So far you are correct, he has not shown the offensive capabilities just yet and may never, so may be destined to be a 3rd line center which is why if the right deal is proposed for him they need to seriously consider it.

I like Perron but I think B Schenn has way more potential plus doesn't Perron have concussion issues? B Schenn has played well lately.
