You don't get if you don't ask, right???
(Mike and I have had numerous conversations, both on here and on twitter, regarding the gulf in class between our favourite team's respective GM/coach combination... ) |

Maybe he trades Carle and a pick for a better defensman like andrej sekera(hes on the trading block isnt he)? - jvar17
If he can't be resigned he is. But that's priority one for the canes, extending him. I also highly doubt he's moved for anything less than a second round pick & a medium level prospect. He has an insanely great cap hit the rest of the season and if he's traded to a playoff team the canes will get a 1st rounder for him. He's also the kind of d-man that will be highly sought after on the trade market, someone will overpay for him. |

Not from this coming year; it seems that most teams (not called NYI) are treating this years picks like gold.
I could see it where it was a prospect and a 2nd from 2016, with the second becoming a first from 2016 if he resigns. |

He's quite possibly the worst defenseman in the league. If we were looking for a 15th forward, I'd be all over this idea. |

I think if we could swing Sekera even if for the rest of the year it would be a great move.
Any other D-man out there close to UFA status worth looking at around the trade deadline? |

I cannot shake the mental association between Sustr and Cory Cross - both are/were similar types of players. Tall, young, rangy, not very physical, and not very good. I am not sold on Sustr.
Carle is not worth his cap-hit, but with the loss of Brewer, we need some experience on D. If we cannot unload his contract, then stick him on third-pairing where he should do better.
If Cooper insists on putting Carle on the second pairing, then I would pair him Stralman - at least Stralman can carry Carle's dead weight.
Hedman - Garrison
Stralman - Carle
Gudas - Barberio
Sustr
Or something along those lines.
But, I think Cooper will stick with Hedman-Stralman. That pairing is lethal.

I like Yzerman, I like our situation now heading into the trade deadline with the extra cap space and depth of players. - stammerman
Martin St.Louis has demanded a trade back to Tampa. All apart of his master plan. |
