Because he won't be as good as Reinhart/McDavid ( I know we need to draft him first) and possibly Grigorenko has more upside offensively. I think Girgensons is too good to be a 3rd line center.

IMO he ends up as a wing in the top 6 that will open up space for his line mates

- sbroads24

depends upon what you want out of your #2 center...and, if gus was dropped down to #3, one would think that the Sabres would have a pretty good top-3 down the middle...and that, imo, is a good thing

The problem is I don't think he's good enough to begin with. If they sign him to a four year deal, they'll still be looking to upgrade because he will be the weak link in a top 6.

fair enough...I was thinking top-nine while the youngins mature...plus, as mentioned, he's the powerforward that will drop 'em...it's something many have been clamoring for

don't know much about tlusty and I think reinhart will need to bulk up a bit to work the corners

Reinhart could play wing with McDavid at worlds juniors, that should be interesting, see how he does there. Gotta think between McEichel, Grigorenko and Reinhart someone is moving to wing.

Dude used to be able to make plays... What happened?

Even without his offense coming out, at least he's showing some heart. I think he fits into a top 9 role here for the next 2-4 years quite well, if this is where he wants to be and works to make it happen.

We could have a line of

Grigorenko-Reinhart-Armia

That would be interesting.

I bet they try many different combinations and look for chemistry.

Some sucker of a team will be feeling the pinch nearing the trade deadline. There will be a return.
- Buffalo-Sabres

id sign him if possible. he will net a decent return at the deadline if he does get moved. nobody ever says "playoffs are coming, we need to get smaller".

If Grigorenko can play the wing, yes. My question is has he ever played LW and can he make the adjustment?

I wonder if Fasching will be Eichel's RW in world juniors? I'd say Compher will be slotted as the 3rd line C for the tourney.

I think they were line mates last WJC. Would be fun to watch.

I think after next season both Compher/Fasching will go pro

I really do think Stewart would be valuable to this team in the next few years. He is a cushion for younger players to play their game and will have everyone's back. Me and my buddies run into him out and he's also an awesome guy (if that matters) he remembers our names and actually takes the time to talk to us which most players wouldn't bother doing. I'm a big fan, especially when he's dropping the mitts. The goals will come with the prospects entering the lineup. If we can trade him for a gold mine, do it. However, I would love to see him stick around with this team.

I could be wrong but I think Fasching played with Matteau.

He can be the nicest guy in the world as long as he's on a different team.

I rarely notice him.

You could definitely be correct. I wasn't sure, I know he played on one of the top lines despite being one of the youngest players

it's gonna be a great tourney. Lots of good prospects for USA and Canada playing.

USA- Eichel, Fasching, Erne, Milano, Compher, Tuch, Larkin, Hanifin, Demko.

Canada- McDavid, Dalcolle, Reinhart, Domi, Strome, Virtanen, Nurse, Fucale.

All of the top 4 prospects will be on either team. Great first look at our first pick

We have 2.

U know what I meant
Neither of these guys are the kind of quality it takes to win a cup
MAYBE, u can try to make a comparison to some non-superstar goalies who have won Cups... But I think it's a stretch at best...
And it's gonna take YEARS before we have the quality of a team that can support a goalie like that

I'm not sure.

Do you know what side Reinhart plays when he plays wing?

Maybe Reinhart takes the LW spot and Grigo is in the middle.

It's obviously a pipe dream, but I could see that line being effective. I would say Reinhart in the middle for the "vision" and the bigger bodies on the outside to make space.

It could be a lethal combo though.

I think if either of these goalies had goal support and a stable D in front of them, they would be in the same category as a Crawford/Fluery (unless he's considered an elite goalie)
