do you really think they would want to play there? - zazzle
No but that's why you overpay....
The Oilers are to hockey as the Jays are to baseball. See Russel Martin signing.

well it's never really been an issue till now.
PIT, STL, CHI, TB, NYI, COL, FLA... all have drafted #1 overall once since the lockout. Pitts and Chi won 3 Cups. Stl and Tbay are contenders. Isles and Avs are teams on the rise and even Florida is having a spurt of competence.
Edmonton has done it 3 times. they've also drafted 6th, 7th and 3rd in that span, with a likely top 3 pick this year, maybe #1. no team has come close to their level of utter incompetence. it's mind boggling. - DoubleDown
Actually the isles and panthers have come close |

They thought Nikitin was a good d-man, so there's hope for us yet. - 1979AD
Not so sure they want to do another Forward for a Dman trade with us, seeing how well the last one worked out for them, and us |

well they were an expansion team and they gradually got better. this is worse. - DoubleDown
They are actually worse now than when they started all this 5 and a half years ago. |

There needs to be an Edmonton rule
I also doubt boozy McTavish is savvy enough to make any kind of trades. |

Flyers just gave up a 3 on 1 while on the powerplay - Nash goal.
You may want to head over to the Flyers thread if you want to see fireworks. - Atomic Wedgie
Here's a quick synopsis:
The sad thing is the Rangers aren't even playing very well, the Flyers have just been that (frank)ing bad
(frank)ing losers
teams a (frank)ing joke
(frank)ing disgrace this team sucks
Its laugh or throw my phone through the tv screen. I choose laughter
This is an absolute tire fire.
Can a GM trade himself?
I'd actually try and trade Simmonds and Read. Simmonds is not much more than a PP specialist at this point.
this team sucks and is an embarrassment i can't watch them any more today
Even if they came dead last they would lose the lottery.

The oilers sign good free agents?
I don't see many comparibles.
The Jays are running out of good years to get it done, the Oilers are young and don't know how to win yet. |

I'm talking about their high end draft choices:
1992
2nd overall - Yashin
1993
1st overall - Daigle
1994
3rd overall - Bonk
1995
1st overall - Berard
1996
1st overall - Phillips
Notice any similiarities? |

No.......... the point is that if a team that is not an attractive destination to play in wants to get a high profile FA the team must overpay... Which then went back to my point about the Oilers completely missing the boat by not going after Hiller or Miller..... |

Yep.. The management team there is a complete joke.. It's JFJ'esque
Hiller and Miller are UFA's but instead you make trades for Scrivens and Fasth??? like get a fukn clue.... A fan could make better roster decisions. - Mr_Smokey
You're not too bright are you?
Miller said he would not go there. Hiller was injured and no one was sure he was going to return to form. He's a headshot away from retirement.
Get a (frank)en clue yourself.

Oh.. I get ya..
Edmonton is no worse than Calgary or Winnipeg..
There should be a thing that if a free agent doesn't sign by a certain deadline he should either get assigned to the highest bidder, or sent the ECHL. We let the players take far too many liberties. If you gave them a choice of no money or playing in Edmonton they would be lookin for a warm pair of winter boots pronto. The players don't know what they want anyways.. Look at that idiot Georges |

The Oilers are horrible and open to criticism, it's best not to take that personally.
If they overpaid Miller he would have gone there.... no athlete will turn down millions of dollars.

For sure, now isn't the time to make trades but knowing the ineptness of the Oilers they will.... Would love to see Nonis swoop in there and pawn off Kadri and Gardiner... |

No (frank)ing way man!
Kadri is a good homegrown guy who's always improving his game. He's better than Eberle IMO and they would never offer anything more. |
