if they don't decide to get serious about goaltending and putting together a real defence, then i don't see any reason why they won't be drafting top 5 again in 2016.

Not by my definition... They drafted smart, traded smart, hired the right coach and stuck with their GM....

The draft needs to stop rewarding horrible teams like Edmonton year after year, it's a broken system.

PIT, STL, CHI, TB, NYI, COL, FLA... all have drafted #1 overall once since the lockout. Pitts and Chi won 3 Cups. Stl and Tbay are contenders. Isles and Avs are teams on the rise and even Florida is having a spurt of competence.

Edmonton has done it 3 times. they've also drafted 6th, 7th and 3rd in that span, with a likely top 3 pick this year, maybe #1. no team has come close to their level of utter incompetence. it's mind boggling.
