Palmer couldn't make it to the mic...so I'm the middleman.

Malkin, Bennett, and Maata for 2 NHL referees.

Only thing worse than the officiating in the third was the Pens effort in the first two. I agree with Hardnosed, def a boycott going on since the Rags game.

It wasn't the reason why they lost, but Goc and his 7 or so minutes of even strength ice time went down, and HCMJ went all let me pull my lines out of a hat from there on out. Like, why switch Kunitz and Spaling at one point there?

And then the Penguins complain about the boycott, and the refs start handing the other team power plays.

Going to need to address it through back channels. Then tell Sid to bite his tongue.

Its almost painful watching the officials keep other teams close...its playoffs already for all pens games. I see up to 5 uncalled hooks and clutches that get called against the pens. It is the biggest gripe I have about the nhl. Its not even about not receiving pps..the issue is other teams being allowed to make picks and clutches all the time without fear of a call. Really hampers the skill players we have. Lets have the best players always be allowed to play and not have pluggers hamper them.

Missed the game, but bad calls or not, the Pens shouldn't be relying on the PP to beat the Canes.

For hockeybuzz bloggers, Ryan's used his life-lines and should be gone shortly. He valiantly bedazzled us with numbers and used numerous examples of Dr. Corfenwick's strat-o-matic's. It was...boring and confusing.

Somebody, somewhere will create a user friendly website where a blogger isn't needed. Hell, ek took advantage of the '04 lockout.....

for as much as I disagree with the man, he will more probably go the way of that albino barium swallow-skinned guy that got hired by an NHL team and caused disguised jealousy by many. I just hope he takes some of his sycophantic followers with him. Go Pens. Go MAF. Go Gibbons.

I disagree with Ryan on many things, most of which have to do with his use of advanced stats, but i think this is a bit excessive.

the guy juggles a lot that we all have to in life and still finds time to update penguins blogs and creates a discussion. a lot of his blogs are about advanced stats but a lot arent so there's plenty of opportunities to read his blogs that arent about advanced stats.

Why the Ryan hate? His word isn't law, or fact, its better than average educated opinion and stats.

Also, you ALL would miss his graphs.

Yea, it's not like whatever he says is right, just opinion on what he thinks/feels just like every other blogger. I'm not going to lie, I find some advanced stats quite boring and don't read most of the fancy stats, but I overall like his work. I also like that he does a blog at least once a day.

I can't believe the disrespect some people are throwing at Ryan Wilson. The guy puts a blog up almost everyday, and I for one look forward to it each morning.
I dont agree with everything he says, but I certainly appreciate his side of every arguement because he at least backs up what he says with a why.

Ryan I hope you dont take this nonsense to heart because you're a damn fine blogger and I appreciate your work.

Thank-you

I don't want to put words in his mouth but I'd imagine he'd say if you don't like it, don't read it. And yet some of his biggest critics seem to come back day after day.

I find it interesting that this board has grown from 30 or so comments a day to a couple hundred or more on most game days so he must be doing something right. Sure statistics aren't everyone's cup of tea, but it's his method for backing up his opinion.

There was a time when the Pens blogger would post one or two columns a week. Complaining about free content is interesting insight.

About 3 million in cap space shed including the new room from Dupuis on the long term injured reserve.
Aside from the numbers, hes a #2 overall pick, on their top line, and a "big name" winger. Would likely take a Pouliot and a 1st.
And honestly, I wouldn't take him, because his contract goes UP after this season, to 7.25 million from about 5.5 mil. Having him would be putting about 44 million in 5 players (Crosby, Malking, Horn, Letang, Fleury) next season. Thats a BIT overkill for big name talent in my opinion. I'd rather get 2 players to bolster this team as solid wingers for that cost, rather than just 1 player.

For now, Comeau is meshing great with Malkin, like Dupuis did with Crosby. I'd like to see how his production stays over the next month with Malkin, he could be a steal in that 2nd line and lessen our need for a top winger some. Kunitz obviously has had great success with both Malkin and Crosby in different years, and Malkin has more trouble finding synergy with players than Crosby, unfortunately, we need to keep Kunitz there for now. What we need is to find a new winger to man Crosby's line, and another winger who is capable of top line minutes, but better placed bolstering the bottom 6 to keep Sills away from the NHL.

Honestly, I'd also like a "lateral trade" in a sense, of Spaling for a 3rd or 4th line winger for the 2nd player i've described. I just am not seeing him living anywhere near the salary he is getting, and think we could get the same value in a 1 million dollar player out there.

I wonder what Despres would look like as a LW. Because it would probably be Ebbett.
- hardnosed

I know this isn't serious but there have been a number of players who have had success converting from forward to defense or defense to forward. We talked about letang before obviousy, but Does anyone realistiically have that possibility on the Pens to convert from D to forward? I mean we are so deep on the back end and hurting at forward, just wondering if there are other options beside trades. Maybe a guy like despres, pouliot, letang? Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Ryan has been posting here for a lot longer than some of you clowns who are showing some pretty poopty attitudes. He is putting effort into his blogs, we could be reading Garth. Show some (frank)ing gratitude.

I don't always agree with him, and he knows it but I appreciate his work and effort.

If you don't. You can (frank) off.
