I wouldn't do perron for sutter straight up, sutter is a much more valuable player in my eyes at least. He's a great center, great faceoff man, plays full ice, our best pk guy and he would easily be a teams #2 center if he wasn't stuck behind geno and sid. Perron provides scoring touch which would be nice, haven't seen as many games as the oil fans but we need a guy who will fight in the corners and stand in front of shots with no hesitation. Not sure if he plays like that but sutter does and is key to our teams success. If anything I would give up a d prospect and a few picks (2nd and 2nd/3rd) oh, and you guys can have scuderi

Exactly. Cs are hard to get and Sutter is in top form right now. We'd add another piece to the deal.

Perron for Sutter+Samuelsson would probably work.

A C and a defensive D ready to play.

Thats not bad... I'd rather a Vet Dman but not bad...

He had a 40 point season and I would argue that 32 is close enough. I'm not saying it is the right thing but I don't think it's the worst trade we could make and I'm definitely not doing it straight up.

This is what Perron brings.

Oh please, do you have any other guys that you wanna dump on us that have no value. I can't wait to give up perron for picks and players in development leagues.

I agree - but from what i've seen on these boards most deals anywhere near that get laughed off. For example, if i said the habs would offer Desharnais + a nearly NHL ready D prospect i'd likely get laughed at. Not saying thats a great deal for the Oil but it is a second-ish line C who puts up very similar numbers to Perron and a D who while not necessarily what the Oilers really need can't hurt them...or if it was a pick rather than a D.

All this to say - i dont think trading Perron is the right move. Eberle is what will get you a lot closer to what you need as far as pieces go. Or wait till the offseason since it seems as if this season is done for anyways.

no actually you'd likely be told that we don't need another soft midget.

The problem is DD doesnt fit the player we need down the middle. We need a bigger C, not add another smaller one. Value could be there with these trades but that doesnt mean it makes it a fit.
- Oilfan19

this, just because the value is right, doesn't mean the trade is right.

Dude.

I'm not trying to convince u to do the deal as i'm just the opposite. I wouldn't trade perron for sutter either.
But perron is exactly what u described. He's an absolute battler. He's as comfortable fighting on the boards as he is dangling in traffic.
He's gritty and dirty and skilled. A player u love to have on your team.

that said;

I'd consider despres...

The pens would never trade Sutter for Perronl. Sutter plays the entire length of the ice, can score, hit, kill penalties, shadow the other teams best player, block shots etc. Perron is one dimensional, he's a winger and struggling to score.

So you wouldn't do a straight up trade but you admit you know very little about Perron other than looking at a stats sheet??

It's GENO not GINO

Lets be honest here: I think Sutter would be a terrific leader for Edmonton. He's responsible on the ice and can chip in if given decent wingers. He's the kind of guy you should be targeting if you don't wanna part with Eberle.

Samuelsson is sound positionally on D. A Scuderi type but much much younger and ready to play.

Perron is a complimentary top 6 we are lacking now. We need one and he's got the kind of drive to do well with Crosby.

Yep.

People can argue dd's value and that he's actually a pretty good player. Which I'd agree with.

But he's not what we need

I'm assuming that making that kind of trade puts us out of the running for the top 3 picks. Although a coaching change might also be necessary to make that happen.
- rathagor

i disagree, we're still in the running making that trade

Not sure if you know this but the pens have 20 year old defenseman that can play right now they are just stuck in a log jam. Pouliot, harrington (maatta's old d partner) dumoulin, samuelson. We have drafted nothing but d prospects the past 3 years. All first-2nd picks. Pouliot is a letang, harrington shut down dman are our two best... but they can all play nhl now except maybe samueslson

U haven't actually seen him play have you?

And don't bother with the typical, 'yes I have many times'.

Uve proven u haven't with the absolutely ridiculous one dimensional scorer nonsense

and Gordon, he can't just be left out as filler in that trade. He's pretty important to this team

I said i like your offer of Samuelsson and Sutter for Perron. My only deal with it is we have a log jam of young/prospect dmen and that just adds to it.

Then we will take him.. despres for perron straight up? I would, despres finally gets to get his chance to play (byslma, orpik didn't like him or something) and he is doing awesome, although he's paired with the anchor scuderi...

Jordan Eberle for Brock Nelson + is the kind of deal Craig should be looking at IMO. Big young Center who's starting to click offensively.

In four years Ya, but not anytime soon.
- LeftCoaster

why 4 years? He's supposed to be the next Crosby or better right? Crosby got 102 points his rookie year.
