The problem is DD doesnt fit the player we need down the middle. We need a bigger C, not add another smaller one. Value could be there with these trades but that doesnt mean it makes it a fit. - Oilfan19
Agreed that they arent necessarily a fit - but i really dont think anisimov is gonna solve the centre issue either. Realistically i dunno if perron alone is really gonna solve any of the issues.
Here's a question though - if Draisaitl is ready for full time 2nd line centre duties next year (hypothecially) would you want a third line that is prime for exploitation minutes and secondary (or tertiary i guess) scoring or one that is more of a shutdown line? |

Edmonton's no touch list:
2015 1st
Hall
Draisaitl
Nurse
Marincin
At this point you have to bank they will be getting McDavid or Eichel, which makes Nugent Hopkins expendable.
I would trade these pieces:
Nugent Hopkins
Eberle
Perron
Yakupov
Schultz
Scrivens
For these pieces:
Veteran #1 Centre (Joe Thornton?)
Veteran #1 D (Keith Yandle?)
Veteran #2/3 D
Veteran #1 G |
|
|
|
Clarkson
Kadri
Gardiner
Reimer
3rd rd pick
for
Eberle
Nurse
Gordon
Fasth
2nd rd pick |

After everything your fan base has been through the last few years, I think the one thing that they can't take a chance on is trading away that pick and having it end up top 3.
None of the deals mentioned is guaranteed to give Edmonton enough of a boost that they get out of the bottom 3. The proposed deals *might* help, or the team, as-is, may turn it around on their own.
When I hear what is being offered, I am leaning towards the Oilers waiting until the off-season to make a move or, wait until we see what is out there at the trade deadline. - Aetherial
If we trade that pick it will only happen at the draft and it is only for a kings ransom. |

Sutter is outscoring Perron this year. Maybe he has started putting the offensive side together(I don't watch the Pens)? I know he's had a couple of seasons close to 40 points and is a responsible player. He would allow us to send down Draisaitl. - Dangles13
Alot of far inferior players are outscoring perron.
29, 32, 26 is not close to 40.
We would be getting robbed. We could get a comparable player for picks and prospects if we really want a grinder at 3c so we're able to send draisaitl down |

so one of McDavid, Eichel or Hanifin + Perron + something else? - SpoiledByOil
I'm assuming that making that kind of trade puts us out of the running for the top 3 picks. Although a coaching change might also be necessary to make that happen. |

if we end up with that 1st round pick, I am not sure what it would take to trade it..this kid ( McDavid ) is scoring at a better rate than Crosby was correct?..do you trade that kind of talent? |

Idk if AA is either. Thats hard to say, I think it would need to be more of a shutdown line. |

He had a 40 point season and I would argue that 32 is close enough. I'm not saying it is the right thing but I don't think it's the worst trade we could make and I'm definitely not doing it straight up. |

Hes just under 3 PPG.
It's nutty.
He scored over a PPG as a 15 year old rookie in junior for eff sakes. |

My point was that it's not being traded during the season. And it would have to be some sort of a Weber+ deal and I doubt it would make sense. |

I think that determination will impact the type of 2/3 line C you need...anisimov is great for that shutdown line maybe not so much for an exploitation line.
Either way it'll be interesting to see the oilers roster next year - but if all they do is sign depth d and a few pluggers its gonna be another rough year. |

Mac-T tried to bring in some higher end player but couldnt get the interest out of em. As embarrassing as another #1 pick would be, McDavid and yak would be an unbelievable 2nd line. |

is he? well let's forget the previous 400 career games and focus on the 20 this year.
Sutter's a 3C and not even a great one. EDM would never do that |

It would not be all that bad of a deal for us. Sutter is 25 and Perron is 26. Sutter is a few K cheaper than Perron and both contracts expire after next year. Sutter has size at 6'3 and 190lbs. Perron is the better scorer but Sutter plays center which we need. - Dangles13
Exactly. Cs are hard to get and Sutter is in top form right now. We'd add another piece to the deal.
Perron for Sutter+Samuelsson would probably work.
A C and a defensive D ready to play. |
