Wow, I didn't realize Bonk and Berard were that high. You're right though, the drafting of Hossa, Redden, Havlat, and the trade with NYI is what made them start to compete.

Yeah it takes more than 5 or 6 players in their early 20's. The real criticism belongs to the management and scouting staff pre-rebuild. Nobody had a crystal ball but it sure would have been nice to have a few more 26-28 year old Defensemen entering their primes.
