Why is that?

He's one of the only, if not the only, skilled gritty shift disturbing player on our team. IMO we need more Perrons.

I played for the Maple leaf athletic club and SSAC for one year. AA and AAA
- SpoiledByOil

Even more reason for us to be enemies. Maybe we played against each other. I played AAA flyers both years of bantam. Think St. Albert won the year with cam.

I got cut from the kings my first year of midget, was super pissed, played some rec and called my career after that.

Fair enough.

I think Eberle has more of what AZ needs - skill at forward.

Good chance we may have. Our careers sounded like they ended similarly haha. (frank)ing teenage hockey politics, so pathtetic.

Our 11 Stanley Cups prior to 1927 are as about as relevant as your 5 prior to 1990. Why don't we argue in the sense of things that happened within the last 25 years?
- Jordo

So what has happened in the last 25 years in Ottawa? Mostly bad team, some okay but largely mediocre teams and a decent stretch where you made the finals once. Sounds similar, but you probably won't see it that way.

Alfie signing a huge (one day) contractt in Ottawa E5
- Oilfan19

huge for the team. obviously has no impact on the ice, but it's fixing a wrong that should have never happened. what the guy meant to the franchise and city, both on and off the ice, is rarely seen. he should retire a sen.

not comparing their on ice performance in ANY WAY.....but it would be like if gretzky was a UFA and had the opportunity to sign a one day contract to retire an oiler. that would have been awesome, and meant SO MUCH to the city of edmonton.

just my 2 cents

while i agree it's silly to talk about cups won 100 years ago, ottawa's teams haven't "mostly been bad". i think maybe only detroit has more playoff appearances in the last 20 years. YES, the ultimate goal is to win a cup, and ottawa's never done it. but you can still be a good team and not win.

I want to see Perron in Ottawa [without trading zibanejad, cowen] but I see him going to philly/nyr/pit.... somewhere in the Atlantic division

I do agree with that last sentiment. I mean, San Jose is another prime example since the lock out.

First of all the Senators came into the league in 92 (22 years last month). Secondly if know the details of how hard it was to start up the team and get the financial and hockey ops running you know why they finished with 8 wins in the first season and struggled so hard the first few years. So if you look at the remaining 17 seasons --- 14 playoff appearances, 4 years divisional tittles, other 5 years 2nd in the division, conference champions, record during those 17 years: 690-439-92-103, jack Adams winners and finalists, Hart trophy runner up, Calder and norris trophies. All this isn't to say "oh look at this amazing team. They still haven't won the ultimate title but mostly bad team......

See, that came off rude. I could say well, the Wings were six time west champs and took the cup four of those since the Sens came in. Be nice.

Yashin was runner-up for both the Hart Trophy for the NHL's most valuable player, as well as being named an NHL Second Team All-Star in the 98-99 season.

Hey you guys should at least have a bit more understanding about how hard it is to build a team. The 2010 were hardly any better than an expansion team. How long did it take the Senators to take their 3 first over alls, a 2nd over all and a 3rd overall and turn them Into a good team?
Go ahead. Compare your expansion team to the 2010 Oilers.

And your statement said mostly bad, 14 playoff performances in 22 years is not mostly bad at all.

92: Yashin (2nd)
93: Daigle (1st)
94: Bonk (3rd)
95: Berard (1st)
96 : Philips (1st)

Eat it Jabroni. Takes much more than a handful of top picks, doesn't it?

Sorry, your right. Your 1st 8 years was somewhat comparable to our last 8. Still there were a few great Ottawa teams last decade, better than Oilers teams for sure.
