I think what Edmonton wants is Coburn and I think it's foolish to weaken our D even more. best case scenario is the current team gets going and then Hexy can deal from a position of strength at the deadline.. maybe try to fleece a desperate club.

Agreed. Flyers aren't exactly in a strong bargaining position right now. Any team calling the Flyers is looking to get over on them. They just have to get straightened out and get some players who should be playing better, do just that.

i think it would be hard to get value at this point because all the pieces that are not named G, jake and mason are underperforming. i would wait until the deadline to make moves. i think you have a better idea of what if possible (for the team this year, and as far as needs for potential trade partners) at that time

The worst thing Hextall could do, is make a reactionary trade due to how the Flyers are currently playing. He should make deal from the viewpoint of even if the team was winning and high up in the standings, would he still make a proposed deal. If the answer is yes, then make it. Otherwise, stand pat.

I'm torn. I feel Hextall should be kicking tires to see if there is a deal to be made now. I think we could be tougher and more gritty. I think we could get deeper within the bottom six. I think we're weak at Left Wing. I think we're missing that number stud defenseman. All these holes obviously cannot be filled this season but some of them can. Enter guys like Chris Stewart and/or Jordan Nolan, if we can fit them in. Heck, maybe Umberger could be useful to Hitchcock in St Louis for Steve Ott.

As for Berube, I wonder if he'd consider splitting Giroux and Voracek to see if possible offense can be created. It's a gamble but why not try Simmonds on the right of Giroux?

Not worried about Hexy making a short sighted move for this season. He pretty much said so, something like hes not going to make a move to try and get certain players going. I expect him to obtain a 2nd rounder in this springs draft in a trade this year.

I'm sure that Hextall is doing just that. I think NHL GM's are always doing that. Not a fan of Chris Stewart right now, and I don't know what it would cost to get him. Probably too much. I think the Flyers need a playmaker more then another grinder. I don't think Nolan does much to help the Flyers.

If he continues to improve, he's a keeper.

I think the only move that might be worth doing is getting rid of Umberger and Vinny's contract, but they will need to add an asset to make that happen.

I don't want to see Read go, but if they could get a 2nd round pick for Read and Umberger that could be a deal worth doing. It would be hard to replace Read, but it would be easier to replace Read than it would be to trade Umberger.

The same with Vinny, though I think Vinny still adds some value to the team.

Creating cap space by trading Umberger, Vinny, and maybe Luke Schenn and adding draft picks for the 2015 draft would bring some success to this season, even it they don't make it to the playoffs.

You also said the Schenn should get prongered. You want B. Schenn to retire early?
