dont know if I could stand Berube for the rest of the season? I bring Murray in to right the ship until the end of the year

Leave Murray with the Phantoms, why disrupt their season?

You can put a turd on skates but don't expect it to become a good player. Though at this point I'd dress a turd over Umberger

I am sure Umburgler is constipated

It's a little odd to me that Berube benched L Schenn, who at the very least would be a lot easier to trade to another team, but he won't sit VL or Umby, both of whom are pretty much big concrete anchors around this team's neck right now.

Hextall and Berube railed about lack of consistency among certain players and the team; Hextall says he wont make a trade for sake of that

- opeth_pa

Good for Hextall. I think he realized that this most likely was not going to be a good year. It doesn't mean he has to be happy about it but at least he's sounding realistic.

I think I want him in the A for developmental reasons. If the plan is to bring the young guys around slowly, he's the best option they have.

Yup. I don't change coaches this season. Let the ship sink and throw life rafts to those who have a future with the team, let the ocean take the others...then swim toward the island that is next year's draft and hope it has tropical drinks and warm beaches.

These guys need 5 days off with no practice. Instead, they oughta rent a frat house, go on a two-day bender and spend the next three days recovering and forced to listen to each other female dog and moan. That'll bond 'em better than any stinkin' Cape Cod fishing trip.

the team sucks. the reasons have been well covered. they're capable of playing better as a group, but even with that, they're a bubble team at best.

the real work has to be for hextall to find the best ways to rid the team of its true dead weight as quickly as possible, and develop the kids properly at the same time. the winning/losing - mostly losing - right now doesn't even (frank)ing matter. a new coach is probably in order too at some point, but imo, it's much more about the players right now.

- hammarby31

Do you see any way for Hexy to move the dead weight without losing valuable assets in the deal?

I just can't figure out how it gets done.

In the past they were able to make some trades that were bad by including 2nd round picks, but I think they need to avoid doing this for the future.

Lol. Are the tropical drinks McDavid, Eichel and Hanifin?

I think Umberger is unmoveable (unmoveable is not a word and it autocorrected to unloveable, which fits as well). They may just need to buy him out after this season or stick him on the 4th line next year and by him out after next season.

Is eating salary less of a cap hit then a conventional buy out?

I know the buyout lessens the cap hit but the lesser cap hit sticks around a lot longer.

Yes, calling someone up from Reading to fill in. Stolarz has barely played, so good to see him get some action.
- bradleyc4

I hope Zepp recovers quickly as I DO NOT want to see Knapp called up and Martin Oulette in net for both Reading home games this weekend. If so they will sign an emergency goalie for the weekend as backup maybe the guy who used to play at Hershey and lives in the area-Cassivi

It can be, yes. Teams can only eat 50% of a contract/AAV.

Wouldn't surprise me either way. He's cheap, looked good in the playoffs...I could see somebody rolling the dice.

That said, better guys cleared waivers-Frattin, for example-so who knows?

You think VLC is tradeable?

I can't see it done unless they package him with a good player and get a lower return then they should.

Sabres may roll the dice on him. Under team control, low salary and potential.
