You do relieze that Richards has a terrible contract and what you get in return for him wont be too special. From any team.

Terrible? I don't think so, he's been one of the Kings best players this season and is a solid playoff performer. His contract will look better as the cap goes up. He is only slightly over paid IMO. I think Kings should and will hold on to him.

ya im pretty sure i read somewhere that NMCs and NTCs dont "travel", meaning they are void once a player is traded since the new team didnt sign them to the clause in the first place

Trading one bad contract for another that lasts plenty long itself isn't a smart move, no matter how many jokes you make. Almost 6 million for 5 years is a huge cost. A good defensive game is great, but as the situation for a lot of teams shows you can only have so many of those kinds of deals.

If LA wants to take Clarkson back in exchange that's fine though .

Unless you think discovering the Leafs have some bad contracts is something praiseworthy, there isn't much to say here. Picking up this guy is impossible under the current cap situation and in exchange for any of the current bad contracts is still going to cost more.

It is a bad contract. He is not the same player he was in Philly. His leadership skills are great but there are plenty of those that make under 1 mill. Holmgren overpaid Richards, he is not a guy who should have an approx 6 mill cap hit. 4-4.5 would be where he should be.
