Oilers turned down the counter offer. Not the draft pick alone. - Iggysbff
The counter offer was The 7th, one of the 2nds, and a young player. 2 months later Bob said the young player was Marty Marincin. So again, I forgot to put an s at the end of picks* Bob, even tweeted on that day, how smart the Oilers were for not taking it, but looking back on it, and the troubles we had in goal, we should of done it. Vancouver wanted Bo, so they were going to take him no matter what. New jersey bite on it, because they knew they had to find someone to replace Big B, and a young forward was not going to help them, as much a goalie in his prime. |

I remember during that draft several sources saying he offered Gagner and 7th overall for Schneider and Canucks turned it down because they didn't want to play against Schneider in their division. The Oilers draft table was pissed when the Canucks traded him for the Devils 9th overall just so he would be in the east.
LeBrun tweeted something earlier today about Canucks asking for 1st round , 2nd round and Marincin but I doubt MacT would have even considered that considering how much he needed D prospects. And I never heard of this until he tweeted it this morning. - kahammer
Hey man, its out their, just use google, and spend your time filtering threw it. |

And not have Nurse for to help the troubles on the blue line? |

Yeah...so exactly what I said. Oil made an offer. Canucks countered with a rediculous price and Mact turned it down. |

At some point you have to make choices on players to fill needs in other areas, it something that pledges this origination. We have Marty, Klefbom, Nurse, who are all blue chip guys. The Oilers have lots of young players, but they need leaders in key roles to teach the young guys what it takes to win. Not hope they get it them selves, or sign plugs who win on other teams, and expect them to lead. They would be great signing, if they just came here to be plugs, not have to teach players what ita takes to win, if they had that, they wouldnt be free agents. |

I just dont think it was rediculous, then or now, but the past is the past, and at some point the oilers will have to do a trade like that to get a key piece, not trade for plugs like Anisimov. I mean he will help, because we need center depth, but we are not going to start being a 500. club because of him. |

I would expect Anisimov + in return for Perron and not the other way around - Ihatebrianburke
I'd kinda be siding with this view myself. I think Perron is worth more.

Like the media says, when a team is bleeding, its the worst time to trade, because everyone thinks they can get a deal. 50% off |

I still think you guys will have to move one of eberle, hall, rnh to get the pieces you need. It could seriously weaken the depth up front but adding a solid goaltender and a defensive defenseman who can play 22 minutes a night would greatly improve the Oilers as a team. The issue is finding players like those available in a trade. It doesn't happen often at all, unless it's cap issues or a trade request.

Don't understand why that wouldn't/couldn't be a one for one deal either?
Is Anisimov that much better than Perron? |

Nope. Just everyone thinks Mact needs to make a move so they try to bend him over. They'll miss out and kick themselves for being greedy later. |

I dont know for sure, but it comes down to why I am really good at poker, and make a living off of it. You can take small amount of information, that makes it self out to the mass threw the media, analysis it, look at all of it from a bigger picture, to get to the truth. The same way you look the way the table bets, and the cards on the board. - FiretheGM

I don't think this trade helps the Oilers much at all. They are in more need to make a package for a real good player, swamping one player out and taking one in isn't going to fix things. Or they have to trade one great player (Eberle) for good depth (two great/good middle 6).
This is a lateral move at best |

All good, but you be surprise how they media is used to drive the market, example someone form TSN says Yak is not even worth Riemer, or they wont even get half of what they think they can for him. Or the best one which is someone true, but is only getting dealt if the Oilers are getting a Top paring dmen, or number 1 goalie, or a Center that is as good or better then Nuge, is the Oilers are only going to get better if they put up Eberle. The media gets this quotes, so the Fans in the markets put pressure on the team to make the moves. |

It is ridiculous when a team is struggling, how everyone expects to fleece them in a trade.
I was thinking maybe Perron for one of our young centers, (Schenn, or Couturier).
Just a thought, they need a center, and we have 3, & could use a goal scorer like Perron in our top 6.
Not counting Lecavalier, when I say we have 3. |

No one is sure what his ceiling is, that's the problem.
They expect more offense from him, but he's playing 20 minutes shadowing the other teams top centers each night.
I thought he would really take off this season, but he doesn't seem to be consistent enough, (offensively), to be a top 6, #2 center. |

I think the Oilers would be all over that. Philly is smart, he reminds me of Bergeron before 10. He had the concussion issues, but still people wrote him off because he didnt produce. |
