If Grabner plays, Bailey sits. Martin and Cizikas are not part of that equation. Plus, if Martin sits, the other team might start taking liberties with our best players without fear of retribution. - potvin05
No one will be taking liberties with out retribution with or without Martin. Clutterbuck, KO, Lee, Hammer, Boychuk, all would throw down. I understand wanting martin in the lineup though. He has been pretty good this year and so has that fourth line. Honestly its a very tough call. I'd rotate martin and casey based on the opponent and drop bailey to the fourth line.
Grabner - Frans - Grabbo gives me wet dreams. |

Yeah. I really can't argue with that. Martin can be maddening sometimes but he has been awesome lately. You're right about the guys you named standing up for the other guys, but Martin is our best fighter and he has enough skill to play night-in, night-out.
It's definitely a tough call either way. Good problem to have. |

Absolutely, how awesome was it to see Lee get into it last night? |

I love it. He pummeled the guy, too. This team is so much fun and they exude calmness. Every D pairing has Boychuk or Leddy, deHaan and Visnovsky on it. The calmness in which they press the puck up the ice is beautiful to see and something that's been missing for awhile. Probably since the Aucoin/Kenny Johnson/Hamrlik days. |

Truth. If he can fight it reduces the need for Matty. That being said, I'd rather see him in front of the net than in the sinbin. |

1st of all - Happy Thanksgiving to all.....
Hickey is who I was talking about, and no team will give up a 1st for him, so not sure were u went from my post? I just pointed out that out of the isles 5/6/7 dmen, he has the best value to be moved if replaced by 1 of the kids, and u wont even get a 2nd pick (unless team was desperate) for him either.
I get how some are Hickey supporters, that's fine, he's a good kid, high hockey IQ and playing 3rd line mins (which is he's suited for) but lets not take my post out of context bc I said if someone would be replaced or traded I could see him over Viz, that's all and lets leave at that......
- Ur Not Me
Somebody in that conversation was talking about Visnovsky, which is what I was thinking of- but this is the same deal. I'm not moving any one of the starting defensemen unless one of the guys in Bridgeport makes it abundantly apparent that he's wasting his time at that level.....or unless I find a GM who's an idiot..... |

Agreed, but what he still needs to work on is the skating- that's WHY he can't fight. He's a big boy, and I'm sure he could throw them just fine....it's the staying on his feet that looks like the issue. |

The reason I don't want this kid in Bridgeport is because it's obvious he can do one thing that Grabner has a hard time with- consistently lighting the little red beacon above and behind the opposing net. That's something you can't teach- if we could only figure out how to make Grabner have Nielsen's hands, we'd have the best player in the history of the NHL, but that's not happening. Unfortunately for now, sending Lee back to Connecticut may be our only option. At this point, unless they waive Conacher, I'm counting one too many, and that's the easiest (most immediate) way to solve that problem. |

Even waiving Conacher doesn't solve everything, you then need to pick someone out of the lineup to sit. Cappy has shown sometimes he has issues with that and he used to pick on the young guy as the easy solution. Very interesting to see what will happen with Strome and Lee playing well, 4th line playing their role well and a guy like Bailey doing the little things away from the puck. |

this is a problem I'll take every single time over last year having to insert mcdonald and boulton and move mcdonald and martin to the third line due to lack of depth. I am really interested to see how grabner plays with a better team, and how he can help us on the pk. if we have an injury we're replacing that player with a legitimate top 9 forward. That's absolutely fantastic.

How is it that this blog remains negative. Who the hell cares about Colin MacDonald, or Brian Strain (filling in one game b/c DeHaan was sick).
And if you think Martin has not been playing well than you need to find another sport to follow. The 4th line has been incredible.
I baffles me that some people thinks that a 4th line has to be John Tavares like. They are hitting everything in site, stabilizing us after we concede a goal, and also scoring (which is huge bonus). You can probably say that Martin, Cizikas and Clutterbuck might be one of the best 4th lines in league right now.
This is best isles have played since the dynasty. Put the lame negative comments away or do us all a favor and post elsewhere.

What do you see here that's really negative, other than the Strait thing, for which I 100% agree with you? The 23 man roster IS an issue, which...well if we don't discuss that, what do we have to talk about? How great they are playing? I don't think you're reading anyone complaining about how they're playing. That's not really a discussion topic-they are the best team of all the teams I root for that I have seen in a long time, and my favorite teams in football and baseball both made the dance in the last completed season. That statement doesn't really require discussion, which is what we're here for.......just saying....

Most of the time I agree with your posts but this isn’t one of them. None of us are negative about the team, what we are doing is looking at it objectively and seeing what could be better. This doesn’t mean we’re not enthusiastic and onboard, it means we’re not blind.
At 4-0 I was worried that our sloppy defensive play was going to cost us, over the next 7 games how did we do? I was ripped for being negative at that time but I was right.
Just because we see flaws doesn’t mean we’re not enjoying the hell out of the start this team has had. These kinds of posts where anyone making a critical comment is told to “take it elsewhere” piss me right off. Just because you want to be blindly loyal to the team doesn’t mean what others are posting is invalid. Take that entitled attitude and shove it.
***edit - look, I don't mean this to come across as harsh as it did, but it royally pisses me off when someone tells people they can't post if it's not positive. That kind of thing just gets under my skin and I don't have any patience for it. Everyone here loves this franchise and wants us to succeed, a critical comment doesn't lessen anyone's loyalty.

I dont want him there either.. but in the absence of a trade, he is the most logical to go back down.
Even if they waive Conacher, id rather have Lee in BP then sitting on the bench watching Gremlin play.
