I think its a wash btn strait and amac. Amac is that bad. He was a big reason why our record was the way it was last season. Him and capuano misusing him and giving him the ice time he did.

Amac was at best a #6 d-man playing top pairing minutes. And all the while Cappy was sitting Bobby Orr and Denis Potvin.

But seriously, I can accept your conclusion. And as I previously alluded to, why pay millions to Amac for lousy defense when you can get essentially the same lousy defense from Strait for a fraction of the cost!

That might be happening real soon if all three are out.
- Cptmjl

Yeah. I guess it would take someone going on IR to clear a roster spot.

Absolutely. As far as his ice time with Capuano there was no reason to heap that on the worat defenseman on the team. At the very least it should have been spread out

Even tho the team is playing phenomenal and bc of possibilities of injury and lack of depth of teams 6/7/8 dman, that's why I have suggested that Snow should try and acquire another legit 5/6 dman to solidify the backend. Viz is too injury prone, Strait flat-out sucks and Hickey doesn't have the size come PO time....

keep in mind that is does not have to be another top dman bc we already acquired 2 before the season started....

So we're playing with Strait AND Donovan in place of Boychuk and Viz.

Playing our number two goaltender who resembled Kevin Poulin from last year and minus our top d man and losing Viz during the game and it was a flashback to November 2013 when they couldn't break a tie game.

Do they rebound tonight at home or do they fall into the trap of a Devils defensive road game? Hopefully the place rocks.

Hickey is a very good number six d man imo. I wouldnt mind beefing up the back end with a big bruiser type but I dont think its a legit need. Injuries are going to happening nice to have the depth but I dont think there are many teams that can lose 3 players in their top four and feel great about their blue line. In other words there arent many if any teams with great 6/7 d men. Doesn't work like that. They wouldnt be a six or seven if they were so wonderful. If we lose all three to injury count on a call up.

This will be a small test. They will need to tighten things up a little bit. If they can bounce back with a solid win it will say a lot about this team.

Agreed. Have to show a little resilience. Good teams do that. How many losses have we had against elite teams over the years that had injuries to important players? Quite a few it used to drive me nuts. We need to be on the other side of that equation.

I get what u posted but like I said, a guy like Brewer who was made available from TB is much better option than Hickey, Strait. I have my doubts about Viz bc of him being easily injured since isles acquired him, so in my opinion/outlook I'd rather have/or see what's available from another team looking to shed salary or players by deadline. Grant it, its still early into season but if injuries continue to mount, I'd be more comfortable having better backend 5/6/7 dmen instead of Strait, Donovan and even Hickey. Its not a need now, just something that could/should be added as the season goes on......

I agree. Just not many teams are going to have 6/7 great d men. I'm very happy we have guys like Reinhart and Pulock if needed. You lose 3 dmen it will hurt. Hopefully these guys are back soon. These injuries to Vish though is why I think the Isles need to move on next year. Need to make room for Reinhart and Pulock anyway.

I think they should keep Vis if they can get a good enough price. He will need to play a reduced roll and they probably shouldn't expect him to play more than 55 games. If he's willing to do that then why not bring him back?

I just see Reinhart and Pulock taking Vish and Hickey's spots especially if Boychuck signs. Just cannot see things working out with Vish and the Isles. Another team will probably have more of a spot and will be willing to pay more than the Isles. I can see the Isles not wanting to give Vish much with his age and injury history.

Valid points. It's really going to be up to Vis and how he wants to finish his career. At this point I don't know if he still sees himself as a top 4 d-man. Plus concussions are nasty things. There is a chance he will be OK with a smaller role.

If this current injury is a concussion he may be out a very long time.

Just asking but isn't Viz currently taking a smaller role by being regulated as a 3rd pairing defenseman right now???

I don't know if Vis' current injury is a concussion, but I'm sure he is still thinking about the one he got last year. Serious concussions have a way of shaking you up and make you reevaluate things. Reading about what some athletes have gone through due to multiple concussions is just sad. Guys getting dizzy at random times, forgetting where they are, can't remember things. It's scary.

Doesn't make sense to resign Visnovsky. Snow isn't going to block some of his prospects...Viz will be 39 years old next year...I would think they would want to use the salary he's getting to sign Boychuk and Leddy...
