I know of a Zack Sill supporter last year when he first broke into the league but none recent.

- PghPens668771

I supported him over Adams until recently. Not because he wasn't worse, but because he at least skated hard and hit and chirped and fought. He's so far behind the play that he's not even able to do those things anymore.

Also playing on the PK not being a skill I don't really understand at all, there is a reason we have a good PK and Adams and Scuds are 2 reasons that we have that.
- nbartley9

Hear hear! If any fool can play on the PK, and it isn't a "skill", then why don't teams consistently send their absolute top players for penalty kills? Why aren't Crosby and Malkin out there?

I'm thinking Ryan's team that he is coaching is going to have a lot of powerplay goals scored against them since he places no emphasis on the penalty kill...

Dont the Wings use Dats and Z on the PK? Or at least did?

Fleury is gonna rock the yellow pads tonight. So, instead of every goal being his fault, it'll be the pads' fault.

Nice! Love the Yellow pads. BTW, the Bruins 3rd Jersey, (black and yellow) looks sick! I dont think hte Pens 3rd looks nearly as good. I wish they could do something better with the black and yellow.

This is where youre fancy stats let you down Ryan

Miller has played great in Vancouver, he has had a few games (the losses) where he has gotten shelled, and the nucks have been blown out

For most of his 13 wins he has played great

Anisimov is a pretty good player though, maybe they thought that he could help Yakapov?

uhmm...I don't think so. Anisimov proved he can be a Top 6 player already and his numbers are there to prove compared to Sutter. For us Sutter has found consistency and has played well (a lot better) THIS year.

So do you just not write about the games anymore Ryan ? I believe (although I could be wrong) the last two game days nothing has been written about the actual game that day , matchups , streaks , anything , what's up with that ? (To quote a very funny SNL skit)

Tonight should be interesting. Leafs are starting to play better than beer league all stars. They're always a speedy group. Penguins will need to control pace and make them really work. No easy chances. Pepper Bernier/Reimer.

The turkey concept tonight is an amusing one, even though the selections are some of Ryan's usual suspects/whipping boys. The effort, nonetheless, is appreciated. Hopefully debating the selections is OK.

As for naming Adams a turkey, I guess I just don't get it. Its kind of like saying Little Ceasars is crappy pizza. Everyone knows it isnt very good, but it's also cheap and consistent. Sometimes you have to pinch some pennies and stretch your dollars. This is what the Pens are doing. Its not like they are paying he guy $3 mil a year. i also disagree that anyone can go out there and kill penalties. This doesn't make me an Adams fan or an apologist. I wish they could upgrade on the 4th line, but you cant do it everywhere under the salary cap. Hopefully Rutherford will find a way to upgrade as the season goes on.

And call me sentimental, but why continue to pick on Orpik? I think everyone except for Brian Mclellan knows he's on the downside of his career. If you are handing out turkeys, give one to him, as he's the one that offered the contract.

All time Penguin Turkeys for your consideration:

LW Rico Fata...all speed, no hands, less skill.
C Mrs Hillary Duff...this has been covered already.
RW Ziggy Palffy...productive for the kings, but a flop of a F signing that essentially quit the team halfway through his only season as a Pen
D Michael Rosival: Part of group of SOFF defenseman in the early 2000 era
D Kevin Hatcher...dammit GMCP, you traded for the wrong Hatcher!
G Craig Hiller....just to show that not all 1st round picks from Cole Harbor work out. The Oens blew the 23rd overall pick on this bird in 96 as the guy who was supposed to eventually replace Tommy B. He made a single appearance in a preseason game, before disappearing to the minors forever.

Coach: Pierre Creamer....when you don't know that your team has to win to even stay alive in playoff contention in your only season, then you are a turkey for sure.
GM: Baz Bastien: traded the Pens first round pick THREE years in a row. Not a good way to build a team...

Turkey trade: Markus Naslund for Alex Stoljanov....better have that with some gravy because that one is tough to swallow.

Go Pens!!!

Good list...

The turkey that I thought of was Robert Dome... remember that disappointment?

Also, honorable mention to Konstantin Koltsov... All the speed in the world, but hands like me.
