so we're agreeing then, aren't we?
- SpoiledByOil

not entirely. Pouliot and Purcell are serviceable players. The TOI comes down to the fact we have a 2C and a 3C that aren't fully capable of their position requirements. So Perron's time is reduced becasue of either Arco or LD.

What about top 9 of

Drai-nuge-ebs
Hall-(Perron trade)-yak
Pouliot-Arco-Purcell

- Redmile247

Could be servicable. However, I don't see why LD-Perron trade-Yak wouldn't work.

I think the core is more or less the issue. Is it just me or there something in our culture that sorta puts those 4 (Hall, Nuge, Ebs, Schultz) on some sort of pedastal?
It seems to me that the Oilers are more concerned with keeping those guys happy than they are in making them better team mates, 2 way players, accountable, etc...

When I see pics on Twitter it's always those 4 hanging out.
Ebs doesn't seem to get much poop for his spotty defensive play, and Schultz obviously is allowed to be poopty with no impact to his ice time.

Why is this?

- Jeropotato

Your guess is as good as mine. I've never once seen any of the guys you mention called out for bad play, sat, benched, demoted lines and playing time. Ever.
but promising rookies like Yakupov and Marincin? Benched, healthy scratched, sent to juniors.

Well, except that one time Hall got water on Eakins suit, then he got benched for a bit.

There is no accountability on this team for poopty play if you're one of the golden boys

Well if my Habs are in we definitely have Defence to move and I would love to see DD go, but I doubt the oilers want a small 2nd line C even if he's a 50+ pt guy

in this case with Drai put on the wing, I'd rather it be on the 3rd line and Pouliot on the 1st, if we wanted to split up the kid line and Perron was gone

They are serviceable but neither one of them, imo, deserves to take ice time from Perron. Someone needs to play those second line minutes, regardless of who the second line center is. It's not the centers taking away his ice time, it's the other wingers.

I have no problem with the Yak or Marincin benching... ( I'm an old school, tough love type), but I have a big issue with Schultz and Ebs escaping the bench...( and apparently Perron does as well).it looks like they are being protected.
I say break up the gang.

I have no problem with it, if it's consistent across the board with all players. As well as on the positive side with rewarding the players giving it their all with more ice time. We haven't seen it on either side of the spectrum, at all.

Abundance of wingers and a need for a 2C. Remind me why they did that Gagner trade again?

Either could work ...but I'm thinking if you are going up against a top D pairing than you either get hall free from that duo or nuge and eberle free

Gagner wasn't the 2C we needed. Then MacT failed to do anything about it in the offseason.

Maybe not, but I don't remember many blogs about them needing a 2C so badly when Gagner was with the team. Seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Why did MacT believe Draisatl could step in and fill this role as an 18 year old?

You realize that without 3 decent centers you're really not going to get 3 scoring lines right? (frank) i would be happy with 2 right now.

But Gretzky stepped in as a 1C at 18. Maybe they're selling Leon short?
