Point is in any city there is urban sprawl and areas that can be made to look bad. They are trying to bash Calgary and Edmonton yet Vancouver has one of the worst transportation infrastructures in North America.

Vancouver is nice if you can be downtown or north van. The rest is crap. The burbs have a lot of unemployment and poverty issues. Its not as perfect as you make it out to be.

It is more expensive than Edmonton, but I actually found rental prices pretty similar to what they were when I was in Calgary. But you get what you pay for. Not a lot of other places in the world where you can go skiing in the morning then hang out at the beach in the afternoon. Maybe me and these studies and all those city planners are bias, but it's one of the best cities in the world. Having a hockey team that isn't a perennial last place team (anymore/for now) is just a nice perk.
