" Perron is beginning to show a lot of leadership in the sense that he now appears to be holding his teammates accountable for their actions. There were his words after the big loss and then again yesterday video caught him giving Justin Schultz an icy stare after the line change fiasco."

I know it's been speculated that's why he's being shopped but do any of you believe that's the case? If so that would be a huge problem IMO.

- Cptmjl

No he isn't being shopped for being a leader/sh!t disturber. He's being shopped because he's a quality player who can bring a quality player in return. We need a center and no one wants our poopty players.

Umm...no. Perron has trade value. his skill set, offensive abilities, two-way game, irritation skills, cap hit are all great things in the eyes of a GM.

If anything, he just made Jultz's trade value a negative

Review my top post. It's a win-lose trade.
- ChetManly

yeah I would go along with that

I just think maybe Edmonton needs more guys like Perron, not less.

He does have some significant value though and Edmonton is in a real tough spot, having to make changes, at the same time as their assets are at a "low" value.

Yes it will significantly upgrade their 2C ... I like Perron for the oil but if you get a 2C I think you gotta take the deal

It's weird agreeing with you, maybe it's because we are on the same page on the item

not sure why the Oilers think this will solve anything. maybe it is someone for Yak to speak Russian with.

Tell me more of what you know about the Oilers Center depth.....

which is exactly why it's a win-lose. We need more guys with Perron's attitude and grit. But if Perron has more value than Eberle, then Perron would be the best to trade off for an upgrade in the Center position, which we dearly need.

right on, trade one of, if not our only gritty player for another tall soft perimeter player. That's just what this team needs, is to get softer

It was great to see the perfect use of Corsi by Matt in this blog. It's a handy tool to see how effective a player can be.

I like reading it in this aspect and not in a anti-corsi blog bash by others.

I agree and would rather look at trading Eberle, but perceived value is higher and would need something else back.
Eberle + for Berglund and Shattenkirk was a decent deal proposed.

Gotcha. I know he has value but I remember when he first spoke out quite a few were speculating he'd be the first to go. I'd think Eberle or Yak would bring more than Perron on potential alone that's why the, "he'll bring a big return" theory doesn't hold that much water. Saying he wasn't an Oiler for long sounds like a strange angle too when the guy shows some leadership quality and the rest of the team can't seem to pick their head up.

The Oilers are not getting better in the immediate future unless they're willing to trade one of RNH, Hall, Eberle or Yak…end of story. Of course the right deal has to be out there for that to happen.

As an outsider that honestly doesn't know the ins and outs of the team I'd agree. There seems to be a few players that'd probably bring a more significant return than Perron. I think him speaking out looks like it had more to do with him being shopped than some would think?

you are not wrong

I just think moving Perron has good value and your not moving anything big like eberle, yak, or your first. Maybe having a more stable middle might help other areas which could buy more time to find a good deal for a D man or goalie

Assuming this trade happens and Letestu and Duby gets back from injury.

Perron-Johanson-Atkinson
Hartnell-Jenner-Foligno
Calvert-Dubinsky-Skille
Chaput-Letest-Boll

i think it makes sense for both Oilers and Jackets.

Jesus Christ you are a sensationalistic bastard ain't ya?

He's being shopped because other teams like the player and the contract. He has value and no one wants our poop.

Having said that I think there is a devide or clique in the Oilers dressing room and I don't think accountability is consistant. So I would like to see 2 of Hall, Nuge, Eberle and Schultz sent packing before Perron.

Yea jsut a coencidence that it came the day after he spoke out. Everything with this team is just one big (frank)ing coencidence. I wish i could see sunshine and rainbows like everyone else seems to want to.

You're right, what a strange coencidence.
