Thanks for your thoughts on Brodeur, guys. I was just curious what you (as Blues fans) thought.

Hope Brodeur has some gas left in the tank, because Allen looks lost and out of position night after night.

I think we are in for a roller coaster ride if the Blues have to ride Allen for a couple months.

Why didn't they bring back Halak or Ryan Miller? They gave up a lot in trades for those guys and those goalies can bring home the Stanley. Cup.

He will settle in. I think he needs to worry more about making a save than trying to pretend that a bump knocks him off his game.

The big thing is the Blues have got to score when they have chances. Hell when they have chances in the slot area they need not attempt a pass through the opposition but actually fire a poop on goal. Especially when the goalie you are facing is a rebound machine. 4-3 in a game that should have ended up 10-2 or something.

Don't be so down on these guys. They have got to get it through their heads that it isn't a pick up game they are playing after they dominate a game. If they stick to olaying the right way they are fierce but need to bury more chances. But not long after that power play when they saw all the time and space they would get with the ouck they abonned smart hockey for pond hockey.

That goal by Tarasenko last night.

What a release. I feel for these goalies. It is off the stick so quick, with a bunch of heat and picking corners.

Lindbohm called up, JBo on IR.

Kind of hope he plays instead of Butler tonight if Jackman plays. Jackman is questionable.

OK, I am pretty excited. Just ordered a road white Lehtera jersey. Merry Christmas to me!

Great deal on http://www.icejerseys.com

Customized jerseys for only $30 extra through tomorrow. (Stitched, not heat pressed) There is also a promo code that can be used with the sale for $15 off the order. (holiday15)

Ended up being $144.50.

IMHO, he had terrible starting position on goals 2 and 3 and didn't get a good push off the post at all (even though the play should not have been to be down on the post with the puck that far out). Given that he did it twice, I hope that isn't a corsi strategy position as it will get abused in the nhl.

When the puck is that far out, there is no need to be tucked, down on the post.

I think this is a Corsi strategy. I see Elliott deeper in the net this than in previous years. Sometimes it is good sometimes it is not. Corsi is a smart dude though. I only know what weaknesses a goalie shows me.

Besides the first goal though he was not bad. I do not think all of his positioning can be faulted. The second goal was defensive coverage break down. Tarasenko did not pick up the back door. Goalies do not normally make a save against that.

The first goal he looked terrible. Just plain terrible.

But hey what do I know about hockey? I said Cole looked like he could be really good, that Oshie has looked great since he came back from injury. That Hitch is a terrible coach as the third goal came after the fourth line came on in the defensive zone in the freaking third oeriod; got hemmed in their own zone; forced line change without getting the puck out deep leading to a goal. That has not happened this year once in the last three or four or five games.

Butler has been fine, better than I thought he would be.

I would like to see more of Lindbohm though. And I am just realistic and know Hitch isn't sitting Jackman unless he is hurt.

Didn't think it deserved a major. But it was given since he got hurt IMO.

Seemed more of a cross check and the boarding. Also, looks like it could have been a dive gone wrong to me. Not saying it was, but could have been.

How was he that weak on his skates? Double minor for cross checking? maybe. major and game misconduct, not imho.

poor decision, penalty yes, but a major, no. the hit on oshie was worse

poor officiating the last few games and it continues. the blues hae gotten away with a few as well that should have been called.

i think the guy that hit oshie gets something from the league. maybe a fine

It is true the one hit was intent the other was not on purpose. If one is a major then certainly the other was a major.

How about the Lehtera penalty. Two Wild pushing Tarasenko around after the whistle and he comes in to protect them and the other guy goes for Lehttie and Lehtera heads to the box alone...wow.

Refs at all level of hockey have a hard time. The NHL most especially because from the top down the consistency and leadership are lacking. Quintel a former Canadien does not gibpve an over the top offender a suspension and he happens to play for the Canadiens. Great optics.

Great game by Allen, Cole and Butler. The second goal Vanek was deep in the crease, of course that is apparently no longer a rule that matters unless the goaltender falls down floppy on the ice.

Once again the fourth line is on the ice in the defensive zone for a face off, this time because of a poor Jackman pass(it happens but awareness of who is on the ice and when to attempt certain plays), leads to a defensive zone face off for the fourth line. Before it happened I saw a goal coming and it did.

On the road Hitch needs to manage the fourth line better. Reaves might be good on the forecheck but he looks more lost than Stewart did in the defensive zone. I think that makes six games in a row where they were on the ice and their lack of ability led to a goal. Only surprise is that Porter was unable to make up for Reaves and Lappy's defienciies.

i agree with the call against Lehtera, i thought both were going to go, but it is the way it is. 3rd man in rule. i say agree on the fact it was bs. call it on both parties or no call should be made. on the other parts i cant really remember them that much so i will not discuss those plays as i cannot make a truthful and non biased decision
