Do we know what the forward lines are tonight?

I read berube is trying raffl-Laughton-Simmonds?

If that's true. Why in gods name won't berube try read-coots-akeson again? Berube has to try this line again. Make vinny RW on bellemares line and scratch umberger.

Now, now. We can't scratch a hard working vet like Umberger. Goes against the Chiefs code of abject stupidity.

I don't see a downside to putting Umberger in the press box, but I don't see Akeson as being a substantially better alternative. Maybe Leier or even Cousins, even though they are both young, but I don't have much faith in Akeson.

I dropped a deuce this morning that would be an upgrade for Umberger

Coming out 0-0 in regulation against a really good Islanders team coming off back to back victories against the Pens is definitely a small victory, we just didn't walk away with two points. Keeping John Tavares in check isn't playing well? We can give the easy response by saying Mason stole the game for us and he did but Coburn was also shadowed Tavares all evening, which for me was fun to watch. They just needed to cut down on the penalties and make sure they clear the zone. If you clear the zone when your suppose to, all those pressure situations the Islanders have, the Islanders do not look as dangerous as they did nearing the end of the game.

Well, I thought they were badly outplayed.
Very happy with the point.

haha oh i thought i made a reference to my fantasy team in there. maybe not. im losing it right now. trying to cram in a lot of evidence studying so i can have tonight and tomorrow to myself.

but my train of thought was if elliott is out for an extended period, maybe jake allen would be in line for a lot of starts. if that is the case, i would like to kick the tires on him, because niemi has been absolutely single handedly killing my team. he goes entire weeks without wins or a save percentage above .900.

im in a pool with people from school, and want to reign supreme over the yuppie masses

I would let Akeson have a couple games with Read and Couturier. It would not be worse than rolling 18 out there. At this point I will give anybody a shot over Zombie.

If it's big enough, Chief Half-Wit will dress it and play it with Giroux & Voracek

Could be worse, if Homer was still in charge he'd sign it to an extension and give it a NTC/NMC

Perron for Anisimov seems lopsided to me.

Do you think this is an even deal?

Yeah, I think Perron is the better player but there are the concussion issues and centers are considered, in general, to be of higher value than wingers

Abject is an interesting word. I think it also applies to the lack of objectivity from some sources towards any move or decision that Berube makes.

Recap of Dreger on Winnipeg radio

Darren Dreger was on Winnipeg’s TSN 1290 on Wednesday afternoon.

On which teams, outside of the Oilers, he’s hearing are active on the NHL trade front:

"Yeah, you know – pick a team. There’s a lot of them. I don’t hear much on Winnipeg. There’s always the weekly tire-kicking that Cheveldayoff is part of. They all are.

“I think a lot of people are paying attention to what Dave Nonis and the Toronto Maple Leafs are doing. And when you throw out the word ‘untouchable,’ that’s a word that doesn’t apply in Toronto either. So is there an appetite for some pretty significant change? I think it depends on how the rest of this week goes. Last week was a colossal failure for the Leafs as an organization, both on and off the ice. They can’t have too many more weeks like that, so keep close attention to what’s going on there.

“The Philadelphia Flyers are definitely hungry, so maybe there’s a fit between Philadelphia and Edmonton.

“And on and on we go. In terms of big-name guys in play, not a lot of big-name guys in play. But certainly the list of those middle-of-the-pack to secondary role players is growing.”

On the Flyers specifically:

"I mean, their defense isn't good enough. And then that's an area of deep concern they have to address. That's why you continue to hear some of the bigger forwards' names in play like Brayden Schenn, and go down the list from there.

"I think that Hexy is going to be active. I do. I can't say that I predict he's going to be active in the next couple of weeks or before the roster freeze on December 19. But when he gets a real good handle on what's available in the market, and where he really needs to make improvements, then this is a guy that's not going to be afraid to do that."
