Yaks needs to do more than ' play hard' to deserve more ice time. He needs to score. And he's not. The rest of his game getting better is nice. No longer a complete defensive liability is nice. But saying he's improved those things isn't enough to deserve top line mins. He needs way more work on his shot and getting to the open areas. Why would we limit ebs ice time when he's on pace for 60 points and yaks is on pace for 30 ish.
Ebs has proven he deserves more ice time by scoring more.
Ebs is a better scorer and he's proven it. Period.


And yeah, Aulie was bad in preseason. But he wasn't horrific in a few of the games he played in reg season. And no worse than Marincin was before he got scratched. But also brought a more physical game like Eakins wanted. We can argue how usefull it was or not. But it doesn't matter cause he was no more directly at fault for the losses than mm was before he got scratched. But a coach benching a young guy for not bringing what the coach asks is something new???!

And I didn't kinda sorta make sense of the moves. I did make sense of them. U just chose to disagree and not admit the logic to all of them.
Which is fine. But by disagreeing it doesn't somehow make your point stronger.

and of course it's easier to point to wrong than right. They're not winning. So how can one say "well heres a slam dunk good move"..?
But his moves haven't been egregiously bad imo. And I felt I proved it.
And in fact, alot of his moves have been extremely standard and within the box so to speak. Maybe that's the problem. But I don't think you're eluding to that at all. Ur attempting to use hindsight to point out losses as some sort of huge mistake he's made. And as u well know, in alot of cases, I flat out disagree.

Yak is on pace for 3rd line points becuase he's playing 3rd line minutes with 3rd line linemates, i don't get why that's so hard to understand, it's pretty straight forward. When Hall was injured and his time was up and team mates were better his production was better.

Marincin played better than Aulie and Nikitin easliy, no comparison. But your ok with sending him down for a conditioning stint, which he actually didn't even get before he was called back up. Then he was "sent down" but acutally just sat in the press box for 2 weeks scratching his nuts doing (frank) all. Marincin was arguably our best D last year when he was up, and Yakupov was our best goal scorer his rookie year. Hiow did we reward this young players? Demotions and benching, right on Eakins, great development.

And no, you didn't make sense of them, you tried to justify them, poorly, with conjecture and giving Eakins the benifit of the doubt.

You may feel you proved that his moves weren't egregiously bad but I disagree. You still can't tell me why Yakupov was demoted at the begining of the year last year, why he played 5 min to start, why he's not on the 5v3, why he was playing him on the 5v4, why Schutlz is playing 24 min a night, why Nikitin is playing so much, why Fayne is playing so little. Why was Hunt up before MM? was he better in the pre-season? Why was he playing 23 min a night? Why play Perron on his off wing only so you can play Purcell on his off wing, on the same god damn line?

Just a small, very small list of all the stupid that is Eakins.

Why is he ok with Drai getting run and no one stepping in?

The list of stupid goes on and on and on and on, and all you ever do to try and justify it is "what if's" and "maybe this, maybe that" You have never once provided a solid argument for why he makes the stupid moves he makes. Why he distributes the minutes the way he does. Sure in your opinion Yakupov hasn't earned 1st line minutes, but according to Eakins use of him, he hasn't even earned 2nd line minutes. why is that?

Why isn't any of Ebs, Hall, Nuge, Schultz ever held responsible for their poopty play? Why aren't players ever rewarded with good play? Why are the rookies the only ones being held accountable for their poopty play?

It's easier to point to insignificant moves that coaches of good teams make which incrementally contribute to wins than it is to point to significant moves that coaches of bad teams make which truly contribute to strong play despite a loss.

- Like sheltering Draisaitl and Yak
- Or putting Pouliot with Nuge and Ebs
- Or leaning on the Hendricks-Gordon-Joensuu/Pinizotto line despite all analytic evidence last year suggesting it was broken
- Or strategically deploying Gordon on the powerplay.

Now, those things didn't contribute to wins, so who cares? But I'd like to remind everyone that that's a classic troll's argument we reject when it's about Taylor Hall. "So what if he's a PPG? Doesn't help the oilers out of the basement".

Sheltering a rookie isn't praisable. and it took an injury to Hall before he put Pouliot on the first line, not like he just said "hey this might work" his hand was forced. How is strategically putting Gordon on the PP working for us? Not very good, how did it work with Yakupov on the 1st PP unit his rookie year? Pretty good.

What good could possibly come from playing Yakupov with Gazdic or Hendricks?

What good has come from playing Schutlz 24 min a night? Nikitin? Hunt while he was here?

Just garbage coaching game after game after game, horrible, horrible player usage all around.

Just what the Flyers need....another huge contract. Not to mention giving up on B Schenn this early only goes against what Hextall has been preaching. Sorry, this move wouldn't improve the Flyers at all. Everybody knows they have no blueline and giving up a top 4 defensemen isn't going to help anything.....next rumour please.....

Do you forget the flying "v" mode he deliberately employed? Poorer 5v5 stats? Having a team that had basically had a pre-season compared to the rest of the league but stumbling to start and failing at the end.

I don;t think that firing Kreuger was the right move, I think it was unfair, but there is no proof that he would have been definitively better.
