and right after he was the first voice, he was put on the trading block. Everyone knows the last thing this team needs is a gritty forward looking for acountability on his team
- SpoiledByOil

that does send the wrong message, I get that the Oilers don't want a player speaking out like that, but he wasn't wrong. They should have taken that and used it to kick start the rest of the guys, not single him out for trying to get them to play better hockey.

The Oilers needs someone with balls to blow up this rebuild. Its obvious the current assets isn't working. So take the 1st rounder and a young gun and make a splash. The return could be huge. Remember what Quebec/Colorado did with Lindros?? Without that trade they don't win the cup. IMO
- 67_ToLongAgo

if a team winning the lottery did want to move the pick and really try and get some talent in multiple areas, this is the year to do it.

I can see a lot of teams willing to move assets for mcdavid. Interesting idea for sure.

Why can't it just be rigged like Pittsburgh?

The Oilers should be praising that imo, at least someone is showing emotion and looking for what is wrong with this garbage team

as an Islanders fan for decades, I certainly understand the frustration Oilers fans are going through. I think part of that is why I really want them to turn it around.

Yes but move more than the pick. I can only imagine what the return would be for the pick plus one of the 3 young guns. It could change this organization over night for many successful years.
Im a Leaf fan but live close to EDM and would love to jump on the bandwagon and support this team!!

you'd have to figure for the pick alone they'd be able to grab several quality assets. One player isn't going to jump start the Oilers but moving one pick and getting 3-4 players might do wonders. It just would suck to have to wait to get to that stage, but there's not a lot of options for players to move right now that would bring back a return that would help.

at this point just trade (frank)ing everyone for skilled veterans and solid supporting cast, and build around Draisatl, Kelfbom, Nurse and nexts years first.

Considerable time? He was coach for one year, the shortened year. Where we played 100% of our games against the western conference, and at one point, actually fighting for a playoff spot.

Since day 1 I've been saying Eakins is garbage, his "system" his deployment, his devlopment, his special teams, his complete lack of emotion, complete (frank)ing garbage.

and if I didn't already hate him enough, his comments about not having a problem with no one stepping up for Draisatl last game after he was ran from behind, and saying that he needs to look out for himself, make me (frank)ing hate that piece of poop even more.

- SpoiledByOil

Eakins has some questionable coaching practices, but the statement above goes great lengths to show that you never gave him a chance. Probably because he was the baby leafs coach. Switching coaches all the time is not the route you want to go, trust me I'm speaking from experience. Would I rather Maurice still be the Leafs coach over Carlyle? You bet your ass. But it doesn't mean the current problems are Carlyles fault.

I'd happily give boychuk dion's contract if he was to sign with us too. Two seconds and that contract for Boychuk.

you have to remember though, that guy is the worst sabres fan on the site. The rest of them are actually not bad people and more realistic.

I think the options for players would increase significantly if the Oilers put this on the table.

Trust me, being a Leaf fan I hear your frustration. But unlike the Leafs, the Oilers have real freaking assets that would fetch so much return. Have hope my friend, just needs someone with the balls to make the move.

No, it's because i was happy with Renney, and Happy with Kruger, i was ok giving Eakins a shot, confused as to why he was there. Then day 1 game 1 he played Yakupov for less than 5 minutes, after he lead our team in goals his rookie year, scoring 11 goals in the last 10 games, so i disliked him right after the first game. Then he benched him within 2 weeks, and then demoted him to the 3rd and 4th lines within 2 weeks as well. We regressed on every level, EVERY SINGLE LEVEL, except faceoffs because we brought in Gordon. Our PP went to poop, our PK went to poop, Yakupov went to poop, everything went to poop and nobody can connect the (frank)ing dots. He's absolutely (frank)ing garbage.

The oil have some young guys with a high ceiling, but I wouldn't say the Leafs don't have as good of players. Kessel is worth more than any oiler. Rielly and Dion wouldn't be cheap. Bozak, JVR and Kadri would compand a massive return. Bernier >>> any goalie Edmonton has..
