Were you kids around for the '87 Canada Cup finals?

Watched it in Hilton Head of all places. Awesome game.

Hawerchuk subtly pulls down the backchecker bearing down on Lemieux to allow Mario to walk in.

Just wondering if we've given away any valuable goalies or defensemen and handed another team a Cup.

Nashville goes from being down 2-1 to 3-2 in the blink of an eye against the Kings.

It's amazing what Lavi can do when you give him a defense.

and 3 young studs in Jones, Ellis and Ekholm who are developing along nicely.

Let's hope Morin, Ghost, Hagg can all do the same for this team (being healthy would help).

edit: and probably the guy who has the best chance of becoming that 25 plus minute stud in Sanheim.

Guy is a facking douche. I find it funny how you think Matt Martin is a dirty player but max talbot is the man. Talbot is one of the dirtier players the pens had. The problem with max is he had nothing to back it up.

easy hoss.

i find it funny how i spend like 4 days doing nothing but singing the islanders praises and you hone in on of all things an opinion based statement impossible for either one of us to empirically prove.

and that first line is a revelation compared to years past.

ribero has shooters, which he needs.

neal has a pass first center. even when the goals arent there, he still opens things up.

and forsberg has been absolutely immaculate.

that erat trade... jesus.

We will agree to disagree I guess. I watch martin quite a bit and with no rose colored glasses I can say hes not a dirty player as far as his kind of player goes. He laid a bad hit yesterday on schenn so ill come off like an idiot but I can count on one hand (less than a full hand)how many times I've seen that. The guy holds up on hits, punches, etc more times than not. He hits hard and plays with an edge but calling him the usual dirty player isnt the best description. Talbot is an absolute POS imo. Ive seen him lay more dirty hits on people(one of them is on your team now) in a game then martin did in his nhl career. Sorry, just realized I wrote a martin blog on the flyers thread.

Calling him the usual goon isnt the best description. Talbot is an absolute POS imo. Ive seen him lay more dirty hits on people in a game then martin did in his nhl career. He was one of the reasons the islanders made a statement with that game. On top of it Talbot turtles twice in that game and martin could have destroyed him but didnt. He held up which led to talbot sucker punching him in the back of the head. Comparing him to cooke or the likes of him are ridiculously far off. Im not even a huge martin fan (I was but his game deteriorated) but im getting the impression you guys dont watch to much of him? Division games are always chippy and martin hits for sure but dirty is not his game. Clutter is more the agitator type. More of a diver than anything else though. If you watch martin enough hes the type of guy that prides himself on playing a tough but clean game. Sorry, just realized I wrote a martin blog on the flyers thread.

i mean i cant say i mind, so rant on. ill listen to anything grounded in reason. i spew pens and other teams nonsense on here all of the time. i think that whole game was an absolute disgrace though. both teams should have faced some sort of pretty severe consequences.

we definitely are going to see it more slanted in our respective teams' favor. that just is what it is. i realize mario was the only one to tattle to the teacher. and that basically is what it is as well. not something im going to defend. id just rather all of that poop was out of the league, for all teams.

clutter doesnt strike me as particularly dirty or dangerous. just annoying and pointless.

beat my edit. Clutter was better in minny imo though he seems to be more effective on the pk (like he was in minny) and his all around game is getting better. Seems to be finding more of a role with the team. Fourth line is finally starting to get back to the way it was when we played you guys in the playoffs a couple yrs ago. He does have his "pointless" moments though theres some effective ones mixed in here and there

that series was so rough. if you had halak then, you would have taken it. that team reminded me a lot of the pens when they were younger and actually hungry.

guys like czesikas (guarantee i butchered that) were absolutely flying.

hamonic is good too. absolutely infuriates me though haha he is one where i will not say he is a dirty player, but he definitely knows how to use the lack of officiating in playoff hockey. his battles with malkin were fun to watch.

we have different views about martin for sure. my opinion of him is that he is really a fringe fourth line guy who realizes he needs to toe the line and provide big hits in order to stay in the game. that type of mentality is definitely going to result in questionable results from time to time.

but having that one guy on the team isnt exactly unique to the islanders. theres a bunch of them out there. hell, guys like downie and cooke are even worse to me. they actually do provide good qualities from time to time, but yet they still feel the need to act like jackasses. actually, neal was the worst offender of that in recent memory.

Hexy is already a disappointment, his plan is taking way too long to come together. Bring in the next guy, and a new coach too!
