Honestly, aside from opportunities to sell off dead weight, I'd prefer if they just sat on their hands and not try to "improve". Draft, develop, patience.
- Tomahawk

I would be trying to sell pretty hard. If Hexy stands pat, this will be the same team next season. I don't know if I can go through another season like this. I would be fine with them sucking while breaking in some kids, but playing poorly with a mostly veteran lineup is the most depressing thing to watch.

who has higher market value; Coburn or Tyler Myers ?
- MrBigglesworth

Myers. He's got the potential to be more productive offensively.

Oh, without a doubt. I'm not giving up on him (ie JvR), it just seems like something is up with him... either he's not 100% healthy, or something else is throwing him off. Offensive production aside - He just doesn't look like he's "driven" recently like we've seen from him before.
- WarriorHockey21

I don't disagree with you there. Outside of Giroux and Voracek, no one has consistently played well on this team. B. Schenn and Simmonds have had very good stretches, but they've been up and down too.
As other posters have mentioned, Read has really been in a funk, with the amount of dead wood on the roster, the Flyers can't afford to get zero production from Read.

No. This is not the same guy who scored 15 goals a few years back. This is the guy who has 0 points in 17 games this year.

Can we please stop it with the, "[Player X] is on waivers, we should get him because all of the other players are better than our players."

Great question. No idea. He's looked terrible all year. I really like Read, I hope he bounces back to form soon.
- PLindbergh31

he had been a solid player for the 3 prior years so I have to think he will get it together. Like I said, maybe split 14/24 and see if it sparks him

If he's really asked for a trade (which I doubt), then I don't want him. This isn't like Ray Bourque or Dave Andreychuk who have played for 15 years and deserve a Cup. This is a guy in his early 20's with tons of years ahead of him. If he wants out because the team has been doing poorly, then I say leave him be and let him sulk.

Since Giroux and Voracek are constants, why not rotate guys with them. If that doesn't get a struggling player going nothing will.

The Flyers should move a defenseman Coburn (4.5m) while his value is still relatively high.

With emergence of servicable MDZ, Schultz and Cola (all three are upcoming UFA/RFA), and solid callups Alt, Hagg, Manning to fill out the D in case of injuries (Morin, Ghost are both IR). The D could look something like this through the rest of this season:

Grossmann - Streit
Schultz - MDZ
Schenn - Cola

Trading Coburn for a 1st line LW like Perron(3.8m) makes a lot of sense. We gain that 1st line LW (Perron scored 28 goals last season), and we shed .7m

there could be many reasons why he asked for a trade (if he in fact did). I think it would be crazy not to inquire.

I doubt the Oilers fanbase was jacking off to Adam Hall when the Flyers put him on waivers. I mean, hey, the Oilers suck, so why didn't they grab him off of waivers? I hear he's good defensive player who's great on faceoffs.

well, they generally don't seem to be in the business of shoring up their defense, so maybe you need a better example

Tough to let a 6 mil per player sulk because he wants out. Bad for the team. He'd sulk until I'd be able to get a solid return, then, adios.

And then, if at all possible, it'd be to another lottery team - just because.

I wish he would piss on Berube's wheaties. It might be the only way he's taken out of the lineup.
