that is an interesting thought. i dont know. i dont think the forwards they have now that are sought after suck. they may not be as good as some people think. but i have a hard time believing talent isnt there. id love any of them. it just couldnt be at the prices they think theyre gonna fetch.

They may be good in a skills competition, but can they play defense, win board battles, execute breakouts and maintain gap control? Those are all skills too and I would argue those are just as or more important than skating fast, puck handling and shooting.

It was at the Meet The Team event during 2012. STHs got in an hour early, and players were just milling around the concourse. Jagr was absolutely mobbed, so I decided to go with my wife to see Max, since she LOVES him.

So we go up, I snap a few pictures with her, had him sign 2 cards, and say, "So, should I call you Max or 'superstar?'"

Dude looked at me like I was the biggest bumhole in the world and quickly said, "Max is fine."

As my friend later told me, it didn't work because I don't have a nice set of boobs.

true. but at the end of the day, you need guys that can do those things.

the oilers problem is thats all they have.

i was never a fan of gagner. hemsky is meh.

but the guys on there now. Hall, obviously untouchable. but hed be one of the nhls best on any team.

i still believe in the talent of eberle, or perron, or even yakupov, should they be pried out of there.

I felt about 2 inches tall. I'm just a huge fan of his Pittsburgh car commercials.

This is quickly becoming a one line team. There is very little secondary scoring to speak of. If the Giroux line doesn't play very well, they have little chance to win.

WTF happened to Read? Time to split up Read/Couturier I think

Ultimately, the game is about scoring more than the other team. If the player you are acquiring is responsible for more goals against than goals scored - even if the player scores many times - he's still not worth much. Flyers need better ES play and I'm not sure getting forwards from the Oilers will help that.

I was getting tired of the flyers giving up position nearly every time they needed a change. Quite a few times we had possession in the neutral zone and had the opportunity to pass back to our d to get a change but we elected to dump and face another onslaught. We just bled that game out last night. They got a point in the end I guess

The flyers need to do what's right and use this year to figure out their lineup next year. B schenn should be at center. He's playing good and he needs to be at his normal position. Vinny who cares. Play him wherever and get rid of him when possible. Umberger.... Buy him out in the summer. Laughton should stay up and play 4th line center. In the summer figure out your young center positions. Trade one for a decent return if need be.

at the cost that the oilers would want. probably not.

but, a guy like eberle on girouxs wing would allow you to realistically try splitting giroux and voracek up.

could bring another line that could actually control the puck and dictate play. in a way, that could help the defense.

I would have. Matt Martin is a no-talent goon who could have crippled Max Talbot, so I'd have no problem if someone pulled a Chris Simon/Jesse Boulerice on him.
- jmatchett383

Matt Martin is an awesome 4th liner. Would love to have him.

Taylor a Hall is the only guy I'd pay the "Oilers price" for. That guy will go through a wall to win, on both sides of the ice.

Guys like Eberle, Yak, RNH, and Schultz? Not so much.

Question of the day:

If they lose to Detroit in regulation and fail to pick up a point against the Rangers this weekend (all of which, sadly, is very possible) is Berube still the head coach Sunday morning?

Good point. Flyers do that far too often. Regroup and hold possession.

I'd waive Akeson & Umberger. If the coach isn't going to play him, let him help the Phantoms. Umberger....just keep him away.

Split Coots & Read, expand Bellemare's role, no more 7 D., clone Giroux and Voracek....

If they lose to Detroit and come out like poop against the Rangers, I expect a jersey will be tossed on the ice
