The Blues have 5 defensemen under the age of 28 on their roster, plus high draft picks in the pipeline. Point remains that St. Louis likely isn't in the market for D prospects. Don't know what else to say - guess you could go to the STL blog and ask them if they'd like some prospects.

And "attacking a straw man" is a rhetorical phrase, meaning that you're debating a point I never made. Wasn't accusing you of attacking at all.

- hardnosed

But they will have a need come next season for an NHL ready defender. Their prospects are considered hit or miss. To add an NHL ready player in Dumoulion when trading from an area that wouldn't feel the loss is something that can be done.

A "strawman" as I was taught is the creation of a point based on information given from anothers argument. I don't see where I created anything out of your argument to be considered "strawman". Unless it was the comparison between their top prospects and Dumoulin, which I don't understand how you can say that is strawman. The rational is that you are saying they don't need D prospects, when they don't have any that are NHL ready. Dumo is. Therefore he fills a need. I guess we are looking at Dumo in different views.

6 NHL games and Dumoulin is proven?

And you're attacking the strawman, too. All I said regarding the Blues was that they have their own D prospects, just like most teams. Never started comparing their prospects to ours.

That logic is like saying "the Pens have F prospects" and ignoring the adjective "poopty" that should be between the words F and Prospects. You have to compare quality of prospects otherwise, every team already has F or D or G or C prospects.

A reporter is saying the panthers are looking to trade some veterans to make room for their younger players. I really think Fleischmans value is very low and could be had for a Samuelsson and a 4th

Didn't he has some odd health issue (blood clot?) a few years ago? He'd fit right in...

I liked him in Washington, but haven't followed him at all since. His numbers this year are

If he's healthy and cheap, it could be one of those low risk/high reward moves. The guy has a set of hands on him.

I can't see jussi being traded after signing that contract. I'd take fleischman though. He adds a great defensive game and could be good with malkin. Then if sutter is traded for a bigger name, he could slip down to the 3rd C spot. A versatile player which I think could be very useful

His numbers have been bad, but that entire team had been terrible. Plus I think they are playing the younger guys like bjugstad and Barkov much more now.

If I was Ed I'd seriously consider dealing Taylor Hall. That sounds like blaspheme, but he could bring back a top 6 center + a top 4 D man if they find the right partner. I think they're overestimating what Eberle will bring back and Yak's value is just nonexistent. They gotta do something, or they will waist their core's youth.
- Victoro311

I agree with this. I was thinking about this as I watched Chicago torch them the other night. If they don't make a major move or two, I don't see how that situation improves anytime soon.

Plus, at a certain point, the youth core becomes contaminated beyond repair.

No, it's not. The Blues' first draft picks have been defensemen in two of the last three years. Doesn't matter to me what some fan on a blog thinks about them (which has been demonstrably wrong), the Blues have defensive prospects with pedigree in-house. They don't need more of them.
