So they even itout with a prospect or pick? Shattenkirk is better than Jultz, so why have two of them? Gunnarson is a much upgraded LHD and can replace Nikitin no problem. Perhaps we could lure Steve Ott out of it as well?

Again, Eberle is the main piece and it's revolving around Bergland and Shattenkirk:

Eberle + Jultz + Nikitin +? = Bergland + Shattenkirk + Gunnarson + Ott? + ??

- ChetManly

Now that would be a blockbuster! It would benefit Eberle as he would completely excel with a STL environment as it would completely overhaul many flailing pieces for Edmonton...

A smart hockey man pointed out to me on Monday what happened when Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored just four goals in the lockout-shortened 2013 season: Nugent-Hopkins was awarded a seven-year, $42 million contract extension that following September.

What happened when Detroit's Tomas Tatar had two straight 24-goal seasons in the AHL from 2010-12? He was told to go do it again, and didn't find a regular roster spot in Detroit until 2013-14. It's a difference in culture.

You could of had Purcell for nothing. TB said they were going to buy him out. But because of his age Gagne was cheaper to buy out. You could of got purcell while keeping Gagne. Gagne is a soft player but still a capable center.

Salary cap.

And we were bottom feeders with Sam Gagner too.
After all the Gagner hate, now we shoulda kept him? He's the answer?

Edmonton needs to lock up talent. And a mil extra, plus maybe a year or two extra is par for the course in edm.
considering what he's developing into in just the first year of that contract, it's gonna be a steal.
even right now it's maybe abit dear* but nothing too egregious.

and Tatar in the ahl vs nuge against the nhl best on a nightly basis deserves no comparison.

But yes, Detroit has luxuries the oilers don't have

Actually not bad.

I really like berglund.

Gunnarson is better than nikitin. Shattenkirk is pretty relative to Jultz. Prob abit better.

I just wonder if we'd regret losing ebs in a year or two when leon is good to go, plus yakimov is knocking on the door.
Center depth is never a bad thing tho.

Yaks, nikitin

Berglund, Gunnarson

?

Still think we need the top pairing guy.
Trade the first + gernat for myers?

Yaks would probably thrive with a better structure and playing with someone like Tarasenko or Oshie.

I'm hesitant on getting rid of Eberle, or trading Yak's within the West. But Eberle would fetch us the best return. Unfortunately we have no immediate fix.

What about something like 2016 1st + Jultz for Bergland and Shattenkirk? Think that is possible?

doubt it.
they're win now.
Sideways move at best for Shattenkirk, and they weaken they're center depth.
Picks/prospects couldn't interest them much as value replacement.

I d assume in the offseason where they could replenish or if theyre in cap trouble. but not now.

As far as ebs/yaks ur certainly right about the difference in value.
I'm starting to really worry about yaks and he's the guy I'd try and ship hoping he still has good value asap.

Yeah, that was my thinking. The only benefit for STL would be getting Eberle. I don't think Eberle is as easy to get as people think.
