Could be Kassian - VANTEL
Better be a good dman coming back.
But you may be right. Who knows what management sees in the players and what other teams think of our assets? Management may have wanted to assess players after the 1/4 season mark. Was that enough time, factoring in injuries to some players?
I am curious to know what other players think of the Canucks- would they want to play here? What they have heard of WD and how they see the team playing with him as coach?
Could Vancouver be the destination for some free agents or place to go, waiving a ntc or nmc?

This right here. I can see the game better at home than from 100000 miles away in the nosebleeds. Plus I don't have to pay $40 for a beer. - bezz44
love the exaggeration but I know what you mean.
Hi def doesn't turn my crank. Nothing beats a live sporting event. Nothing like being in a rocking stadium or rink during playoffs. Love it. |

It is not that good of a second line. Look at LA ANA or most of the other top teams. Burows and Higgins are not true second liners. They should be third liners - VANTEL
NHL.com had a graph recently showing that our second line was one of the highest scoring even strength lines in the league...better than our top line... |

Bo stays, Sestito gets waived, Vey is the 13th forward. - fiveandagame
I think it's funny that hockey 'experts' said that Vey didn't get a chance to play being behind so much depth in LA. Sure, but one only has to look at his overall game to realize that he's not a full time NHLer yet. |

From what I read its a high pressure market and beautiful, but the travel sucks. It's been managed pretty well over the past 10 years too. Say what you want about Gillis, but he sunk a lot of money into nutrition, sleep studies, etc. He was considered a league pioneer a few years ago...

Nino for Clutterbuck. Now that was a trade.

I agree, but nobody is going to give us a legitimate 2nd liner for a 3rd liner and spare parts. That line has pretty good chemistry so far. With the overall depth this year, the lack of talent on the second line has been shielded.
I'm really liking the WD and Benning regime so far. If the can get some real high end talent to compliment the depth this team could go places. |

I think somewhere along the way this year a big trade will happen. I expect because of the way this year has gone we will be buyers and not sellers.
We can assume Sestito will be gone. I like the way Mathias is coming along and I don't think we would get much. Willie seems to like Hansen so I don't think he is going anywhere. That would leave Burr Kassian Higgins as the main part of the trade bait.
I think Jensen will be part of the lineup next year and more than likely Virtanen .
Someone needs to go.

I see that Kassian has just displaced Hansen in the standard trade package lineup |

I think it'll come down to how confident they are that a certain player(s) on the farm can make the jump and stick on a scoring line, as opposed to shuffling up and down the lineup inc the pressbox until the come around (or never do).
As so often occurs with mid season trades it'll likely come down to the team's form and record leading up to the TDL. If we're looking good we're buying and won't be giving up anything that will destabilize a winning team. If we're looking shabby, the possibilities open up. |

I wouldn't trade Jensen or Kassian quite yet.
This team doesn't need to make a big trade to shake up the roster. They arent winning the cup this year so unless Benning has an absolute robbery lined up I would stay pat.
This team making the playoffs would be a successful season. |

ROR is getting paid just under the Sedins at 6m per for this season + next year. Kassian makes 1.75m and the others on your list are below <1m. Will be tough to fit under the cap, assuming they'd even be interested.
The other question is would you dismantle a 2nd line which is clicking right now and a C (Bonino) who's playing like a legit 2C? Unless you're thinking of playing ROR on Bonino's wing. That I'd like to see. |

Based on how things have gone so far I can't see benning working to get 2nd line talent. I think the only significant trade we see is for a dman to help replace hamhuis.

Had to watch the game with a Chicago broadcast last night. It was pretty interesting, they weren’t homers at all, they actually called a decent game and gave praise where praise was due. What was interesting however was during one of the intermissions they brought on Eddie Olczyk to talk about the rivalry with the Hawks and Nucks. Eddie said the stadium was dead, nothing, notta. It even felt like he was uncomfortable saying how dead it was there.
I have been gone for a while but have noticed this while watching games, as well as a couple years ago I experienced the same when I did go to a live one. What happened to the fans? - KOS
I noticed there were a lot of couples, suits, and not enough kids. There were a couple guys who tried to get some chants started, but no one followed along. |
