What does Katz know about hockey that he could justify vetoing what is managers are saying/doing?

Just because you own a certain business, doesn't mean you are knowledgable to run said business. That's what managers are for. But if his managers aren't getting any results, it's up to him to decide on wether or not they should be replaced

Owners have been known to. That's why I'd be intrigued about brokering a trade with Columbus and Arizona. Those teams are not necessarily in the best economic shape. Their owners might be a bit blinded by a deal with the 2015 1st in it for marketing reasons.

I've already said I'll be furious if Draisaitl is an Oiler for the rest of this year, and if the Oil draft McDavid. What a crock it'll be.

We need to make a change to our defense, and to our Centres, and probably also to our goaltending, and i'll be very angry with management if two of those three don't happen before June.

You make some good points so let me address each:

1. Outsiders peddling the same tired solutions that they hear from Dreger ET AL.
But these tired solutions haven't been tried yet. The same people have been driving this boat for years now with no improvement in sight. An organization can keep on firing fringe managers, positional coaches, and team trainers with no evidence of improvement. Maybe it's time to listen to these 'outsiders'.

2. And that oiler fans have any actual say in the teams makeup. We don't.
I think you're wrong here. fans do have a say. If 12,000 fans showed up to a Saturday night game the owner would start to listen. But the sheep keep coming to the games so why change a thing.

3. the haters shouldnt waste their times trying to convince us
We are not haters. We all remember the great oiler days. There's been nothing like it since. Who doesn't want that again. I think people are generally concerned and want to provide their thoughts and maybe a solution. The last time I checked hockey discussion was acceptable on this site.

1. yes they have.
they've fired 4 coaches in 5 or 6 years. that's a hugely important position in any organization. many people (as well as many outsiders) have continually blamed it on the coach. and management has made the changes. and in many cases these same outsiders are again saying fire the coach.

bring in veteran leadership as so many outsiders still say? well first off the oilers aren't an extremely desirable destination, but nonetheless mact has still done exactly that. his roster turnover since taking over the team is the highest in the league I believe. or close to it at least.

saying those were the "wrong" vets is just hindsight at this point. and we arent able to bring in the keiths and the suters anyway.

and furthermore, mact has in fact fired the coaches and changed the roster as previously mentioned just like many people wanted. they fired a goalie coach today after what, 3-4 days of grumbling about the goalie coach? I know for sure it wasn't a focal point position in the very recent past anyway.

3. im not mad man. and yes, everyone is entitled to say whatever they want on this site. but I view a huge majority of the guys on the oiler threads as haters. I didn't say u were. but I stand by those words.

first, they don't have nearly as much invested in the oilers winning as the people that actually care do. and for the most part, nor are they as close to the situation and know what the real problems are. and im not just talking about joe poster on HB. im talking about supposed expert, eastern based hockey analyst that doesn't know a fuking thing about the oilers and doesn't watch them 50+ times a year
