I actually grew up in Racine Wisconsin. Low-Middle class. Went to a school where population was 50% white, 40% black and 9% Hispanic.. (actual research was done). The start of the school year, for my senior year, we had 3900 people registered. On the first day of school, our senior class was 1800. The teachers were horrible. We had to have medal detectors, yet still had people bringing guns and knives through windows... (why? who the (frank) knows). This was a crap school. One of the worst in Wisconsin.
I don't get why people cry about poor education. Some people in my senior class went on to become doctors. While others went on to be killed on their 18th birthday. Some I use to know are in jail for murder. I myself am a successful 30yo businessman.
Everyone has a choice to live their life the way they want to. It's the America dream. People who cry about poor schools, income inequality, blah blah blah, poor me the world is (frank)ing against me.. They need to join the (frank)ing army or something and get a reality check/brain wash.. - l3ig_l2ecl

I believe in choice too. And if you have ever watched Shark Tank I would say that the American Dream is alive!
The problem, the way I see it, is your typical joe is selfish and wants to save all his money. So he shops on Amazon at walmart etc. Which put businesses out of business. They pay people garbage salaries, and have hurt 'Main Street'.
Now as a Business owner myself, I have to stand out, and offer better service than my competition and have knowledge about my products. I'm not hurting because I've chosen to do things differently. But when my small community's Walmart averages $1 Million in sales a day that hurts in a big way. That money isn't re-circulating.
So no I don't blame the system, I blame the ignorant people who have zero education in Economics 101.
Mind you, I realize I probly live in one of the dumbest communities in North America. Average Joe goes to the mine and makes 120,000-200,000 a year and are still in debt. They buy 4x4, trucks, ski-doos every other year. And snort the rest of their savings. |

Some place warm, a place where the beer flows like wine, where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I’m talking about a little place called Timmins. |

I agree to some point.
It's one of the reasons I don't own small businesses. However, no one said owning a small business was going to make you a millionaire.. You have a profit that pays the bills.
Some have the business that offers a need that can't be found on Amazon or Ebay or even Walmart and then are able to open a second place or even franchise it. This is what Shark Tank/Dragons Den is about.
North Americans typically want material. They like it fancy and it's how they rate their success. They live beyond their needs so they need to find it cheap. This is why big box stores and online exists.
Now lets say you take away big box stores... The person looking for a 60inch tv at $600m, it doesn't exist. So their budget is still $600, so they can only afford a 40inch. However, they already have a 40inch it's why they want a 60inch. They decide to not buy a new TV.. Doesn't help that local TV owner.
Then we still live in North America, so he will spend that $600 somewhere, just not that small business owner that sells TVs...
The Economy is a whole. People make money, and they spend it. Whether 1 store is making $1million per day or 1 million stores make $1thousand per day. Still the same about of money is being spent.
As for poorer salaries, you pay the minimum that the person with the required skill is willing to work for. That's just common sense.
Cool that you have a small business though. I always dream of owning one. Just don't know what yet.

Jeb Bush - Another Bush!!!! WTF!!!
Chris Christie - He's not enough right to make it past Primaries, but he's funny!
Scott Walker - He would have a government shutdown for 3 years after he undoes all that Obama did.
Allen West - Because a black republican president would be like shoving an elephant up Obama's ass
Ted Cruz - He will probably win primaries if Christie doesn't... |
