Off the top of my head, that's the best goaltending performance I've seen from the Flyers since, maybe, Cechmanek's Vezina finalist season

He's been pretty much on fire in his last eight starts, but tonight was altogether amazing

- AllInForFlyers

Agreed.. I just wish he was a top 25 goalie.. haha

Is little intriguing to me that Laughton got that crack at 1st shooter. Good for the kid.

Simmonds is really struggling 5 on 5.

- flyer_nutter

Gotta lead with Giroux. Put the pressure on. No reason he and Jake aren't the first 2 shooters every time, IMO

You and I can put on a Flyers jersey and be more effective than Umberger.
- Giroux_Is_God

Right now we could be more effective then Umberger, VL, Read, Couturier, PEB..thats the problem..offensively too many black holes right now.

That will probably balance out over the course of a long season but right now..its tough to watch .

Poopty intensity? Disagree. They decided to pucker their sphincters for a point once they realized how much trouble they were in when the isles decided to take it to them

It was good work getting a point. The flyers put their work in, they can't work magic tricks when you have 11 forwards and 3 of them are vinny, Rinaldo, and Corpseburger

- Just5

That's what I saw -- they were trying their best to get out of there with a point once they realized that poop was real and happening out there

Simmonds is what he is at 5 vs 5. Not struggling IMO. He does good things in the o zone

Giroux should be #1 every time. After that....

I don't know maybe Brayden Schenn can channel some of that WJC magic that gave him the hype.

the only good chances they had in 60 minutes were coots' sh breakaway and rinaldo's behind the back pass to bellemare. that's it. literally that's it. the rest was garbage.

that's absurd if halak was chosen as first star, but not through any fault of his own. he didn't have the workload. mason was stunning.

- hammarby31

Well.. that's what happened.. even the Islanders broadcasters were stunned that he wasn't the 1 star... Out of spite, next time we play the Isles and lose 6-1 I'd make all 3 stars Flyers..

It's just painful to watch him. Hextall has to realize this guy is cooked.
Let's hope he is working the phones to do something to shake up this team

They sat back and weathered the storm. Even if you're not as good, you can do more than just hang on until the cavalry arrives. The inability to pass out of the zone is poor execution. Losing the majority of the puck battles and races to loose pucks is intensity.

Mason is the only reason they got the point.

Mason was fantastic, I'm not even going to try and defend the three stars but frankly all I cared about was the two points. Good game and we'll meet again soon

You'd like to see him show more offensive flashes for sure. It took Brayden Schenn this long, even if he is playing with the two war horses up front.

Couturier just looks slow as (frank) to me to be honest. Still good, but whatever.

The only time I really noticed Coots outside of his breakaway was when he was stuck in his own zone in OT being incredibly passive and non aggressive. That was infuriating to watch. I know the dude was gassed but he was making zero effort.

What in the world is wrong with the Flyers forwards? Tonight against the Islanders they were heartless, and lacked any motivation. G even took a dive in the 3rd to try to draw a penalty, because he was out of position, and didn't want to have to work his way back to his own zone. Is that leadership for yah? Coots was a turn over machine, and looked like he wanted to pass the puck every time it came to him. When the forwards leave all the work for the D, then I can see why Chief has to roll 7 D men. Chief just doesn't have anyone that is willing to shoot, dump in the puck, or go to the net. Hence, he has to dress 7 D men, otherwise the D would always trying to surrender to opposing teams. Let the forwards heads start to roll, and maybe that will be the wake up call that they need. The Islander should have been a team to beat, because of the great games that they had played against the Pens. However, the lazy forwards refused to play any of the 60 minutes of the game. Once again, they relied upon a patchwork D, and a goalie. Thank you to Mason for playing his butt off. Shame on the forwards.

That was pathetic though. Mason deserved the first star. After that, I think they should get rid of it entirely.
