That was a great play by Mashinter. I went to the Hogs game last night. Hartman looked like the real deal to me. The only player on the Hogs that looked out of place was TT. He showed nothing. He avoided the boards like a plague. A couple of times he had the puck stolen from him. He was caught out of position on defense more than a few times. He looks like he is playing scared. Was this just a bad outing for TT last night ? If this is how he plays most nights ...he has a long way to go. IMO his 2 year tenure in Findland did very little to prepare him for NHL. I think, Stan made a big mistake by not forcing him to play in the AHL to get use to the physical play. To much hype by Stan and COmpany. I hope I am wrong with my assessment of TT. Go Hawks tonight!

You're not wrong about Teuvo avoiding contact on the ice. However, you do have to take into consideration that he's played approximately two dozen games in North America so far. It's going to take him some time to acclimate to the smaller ice and more physical game.

The question is how long it take him to acclimate, if he does at all?

There have been some small improvements since the start of the season - glimpses of what he's advertised by the organization to be. I'm hoping that he'll put it together sooner rather than later. For now, he's as you say - a long way off.

Perhaps that changes sometime by the end of January or February? Maybe he shows a different game come training camp next season? In sum, I believe that it is too early just to write off Teuvo.

Been slacking on posting my IceHogs photos, but here's one of Carruth in honor of his shutout:

If any of you want to check out my shots from the season, I've got every home game this season on my website, http://www.reicherstudios...eyPhotos/IceHogs-20142015

I get to hop in the player bench for the warmup shots, then shoot the others from above the glass.

Although I do hit every game, since I'm shooting the game, I don't see as much as Eli would, so he's probably a better gauge of who's doing what.

One thing he needs to certainly work on is his defensive game. He also makes some ill-advised passes at times, especially the defensive zone cross crease that was intercepted last night against Milwaukee.

Maybe they told the kid to just ease into the north american game. Try not to get his block knocked off. Either way I agree, way too soon to write the kid off.

I agree.

I also don't like who Dent has riding with him on a line at times. I'd rather see Tuevo on a line with McNeill once he's back from injury. He needs a big body that can keep up with him.

was at the Icehogs game today, 1st time ever I had seen them play, was great to pay 24 bucks ,sit up close and actually watch kids who give an effort and compete unlike some (29) at the parent club. I was impressed with Johns, Dalbeck, Hartman, and especially Mashintor. partially because I would love to see him at the NHL level adding an element some already(29) there refused to do. what I did notice is Dent wasn't afraid to use him like he did with Bollig before, in all situations.
Needlesss to say , from what I saw today, I would switch out 2-3 of these kids with a couple of those primadonnas on west madison street based on sheer desire to compete level. Let's win this game tonite and at least guarentee a 500 trip.
think the 2nd part is gonna be alot more tougher to get thru, say 4-2 on the trip.

I am deffinately not trying to write him off or sending under the bus. It' s the hype by management that is frustrating. I believe the Hawks staff did not do the right thing by keeping him in Findland last year. TT should Have been working with our Strength Staff for the last two years and playing against better and more physical competition. The Finish league was not the answer.

I never thought you were throwing him under the bus. I also get the frustration.

I disagree with the premise of bringing over Teuvo earlier. He's 20 right now. Throwing him into a pro league like the "A" might have been too much for him, especially with the size issue. That might have done some development damage by doing that.

In addition, the earlier they bring him over, the earlier his ELC starts, which equals to Teuvo reaching RFA status, arbitration, and UFA status earlier in his career. That doesn't help the organization in the long run.

You make a good point about the RFA on Teuvo. However, TT was playing against men in the Finish league for over three years . He was not comming out of OHL or the WhL. IMO, we made the same the same mistake with Maxim ...kept him in KHL junior league a year to long and he regressed and couldn't handle the transition from the slower/less physical style of European hockey.

Good point, he needs stronger and faster linesmen. Most of the times he is playing on the third or fourth line. Kaner was never put out with the bottom two lines ever

Let's give some Kudos to Steeger! He has been our best offensive player the last three weeks. He has been a great surprise this year. Thanks, Scotty for not trading during the off-season like a lot of our fans wanted. Keep it Up Hawks , I know You can do it.

No doubt the majority wanted him ousted, but good for those (there were a few) who wanted to see what he could do this year being healthy. He clearly wasn't last year and at his cap hit for us he has been a great value.

BTW, I was not in his corner so this was not a tip my own cap post.

I'm here boys. Part three of my 3 game roadtrip, flew in from Edmonton this morning. I can see Rogers Arena from my hotel room. I was expecting at least 2 wins and now shooting for 3 . The Canucks are pretty good so far this year BUT I am feeling good about the Hawks again tonight! 4-2 Hawks.

Well the boys had their fancy pants on for this game, and as a result, turned it over a lot, and spent most of the night shooting low percentage shots from the perimeter.

TT played and excelled in the World Jr. last year and wasn't chosen for the Finnish Olympic team. He's the equivalent of any junior player turning pro and he's 20. Very few players jump into the NHL at 20 unless they are with a real bad team like the Oilers who foolishly just force their kids into the lineup.

The AHL is a tough, competitive league and the Hawks don't need him. Let him develop and gain some confidence there.

Miller is an American hero and legend. That Olympic team let him down, he was by far their best player.
