ya he was really sick, he couldnt make it to the HHOF ceremonies

At the Hockey Hall of Fame awards ceremonies Monday when it was announced on national television that Pat Quinn would not be participating in the celebrations “due to illness,” alarms went off across the country.

He was too ill to attend the Hall of Fame weekend, so he was ailing.

15 mil in space with 14 players signed, you can work with that.

At least we arent the bruins...

- Bigzby

Kadri, Bernier and Franson use that space
now sign 5 or 6 more players

Ya but in the off season you can move contracts easily.

I dont see Franson back regardless.

And I dont see Kadri or Bernier getting more than 4, they havent proven anything yet.

I could see Reimer, Lupul, Franson, Gardiner and maybe even Dion gone by puck drop next year. (22million? im guessing)

4 isn't much anymore. Check out the $$ given to guys like Halak, Howard, Varlamov ....hell, even Steve Mason got 4.1.

If Bernier finishes with similar numbers to 13/14 then he and the team are staring at a long term deal worth 5+ per season. All of those guys (Franson, Kadri, and Bernier) are getting north of 4.

Lupul, Phaneuf, Clarkson ...maybe Gardiner are the contracts Nonis 'could' look to move. Phaneuf and Clarkson are tough to move (and make space). Lupul makes sense.

I'd like to see him get tough minutes with a mobile defensive guy playing beside him. He's looked good ...and it's interesting watching him and Dion on the ice at the same time. Tough to say who's been better/worse most nights.

Clarksons contract isnt anywhere near Dions now, hes one of the only guy who competes every single night, whats he got 5yr and 5 left? sure its a overpayment but he was the top UFA, gotta overpay, his game this year atleast makes it "okay"

It's hard to tell if its because he could not possibly get any worse than last year or if he's actually playing well.

Joking aside, I think he is playing in the lineup where he is most effective so it is helping him a lot being on that 3rd line. Still over-paid obviously but playing well.

Larry Brooks recently speculated that it wasn't going up, due to the decline of the Canadian dollar.

Other than that, I haven't seen anything.

Probably fair to assume it goes up a little.

Some people 'in the know' said they can still see it going up 2-3 million.

Phaneuf is solid but making a million or so too much. And comes with a lot of term.

Clarkson is solid but making a million or so too much. And comes with a lot of term.

No GM is going to trade for Clarkson - the weight of "NHL's worst contract" prevents any GM from even considering it.

He's a Leaf for life.
