while despres has made me eat crow and I'd hate to lose him, he is probably the best asset to move. pens seem determined to not use him and bortz exclussively over scuds. he may be passed in the depth by dodumalin, poiliot, and harrington. he is easier to replace this year than martin. if pens traded simon, and lost both erhoff and martin to FA (worst case senario) pens still have letang-maatta, harrington-poiliot, bortz/scuds/doumalin. THATS THE WORST CASE SENARIO. pens depth in D is amazing! simon maybe could go for a decent winger - ChrisMS
Scuds will be moved by the deadline if not before ... The value on d men is sky high |

IS sid hurt again? his performance the last few games is starting to remind me of the playoffs last spring. Some of that may be due to being forced to play with Comeau or Spalling, but he has not been the same Sid we are used to seeing |

Whatever you are smoking, I'd like some of it. No team worth its salt wants anything to do with Scuderi and the contract he has right now at this stage of his career. He is playing better than last year, not that that is saying much. Still no GM worth his salt wants any part of a Scuderi deal. |
|

Dear goodness please get Perron. If he could be had for a decently low price, the pens could definitely make another move at the deadline |

I highly doubt he is moveable. The only possible way is giving up a bunch of assets along with Scuds to make his contract more palatable. And that is not something that helps the Pens organization at this time. Perhaps if a team trying to land McDavid blows up its roster and needs Scuds to hit the CBA Floor....But that is a massive pipe dream. Does Scuds have any sort of no trade clause? |

Here's to hoping they run with the lines they finished with last night against the Bruins.
It could make things less desperate for now. |

Come deadline day, some team is going to want a stay at home defensmen who can improve their PK. Penguins can get a lower pick or a prospect out of it. |

I don't think it's critical that they shed Scuderi's contract. Just make the best of it and let him ride it out. Maybe trade him at the deadline in 16-17. Martin is going to walk at year's end, which opens up a space for Pouliot and frees cap.
End of the day, Dupuis' contract is all of that cap space they need as long as they're willing to move Bennett up the lineup. That bumps Spaling and Comeau down which immediately solidifies the bottom 6. If Megna works out, it could even make Adams a guy who watches from the press box come April. |

Can someone who's watched Wilkes barre give me an update on pouliot? Seems like this board is certain he's ready for the nhl |

Mentioned one earlier about Despres for Kassian..
But what about Despres for any of Connolly, Jurco, Rattie, Silfverberg, B. Ritchie? |

He's got 12 points in 16 games and by all accounts is acclimating himself well to the A. Might not be ready right now, but probably by next season he'll be knocking on the door. |

I've come to the conclusion that Sid needs a tireless worker like Hornqvist to make him go. Kunitz seems to have lost a step because that used to be his forte. Kunitz disappeared last year too at the end of the year.
I also think Sid's game isn't what it was before the head trauma's. He used to be much more active in front of the net. Driving the net. He just doesn't seem to do that with as much frequency. Obviously still a great player but somewhat different player.
I couldn't be more impressed with Hornqvist. The guy never stops. There were about 3 or 4 guys that showed up for the last two games and he was one of them.

Kunitz, Crosby, and Hornqvist were all killing it together. Lighting it up. Then, in an effort to get Geno going they shuffled the lines, and instead it resulted in two ineffective lines.
Kunitz has too much responsibility with guys like Gibbons, Stempniak or Comeau on his line. Dupuis and Horqvist allow Kunitz to play his game.
I think teams are also playing off of Crosby more lately. They're packing it in and trying to keep things to the perimeter. One guy trying to take away time and space, the rest of the team backing off. Hornqvist in front of the net was helping to counteract that strategy. |

Maybe if he was an UFA. Not a chance in hell... Sadly
the partial no trade limits him to contenders.. name one that wants a 4 million dollar bottom pairing guy for 2.5 more years |

Just saw this one proposed...
Letang and Sutter for Eberle, Perron, Petry?
Big question mark is I cant remember if Tanger has a LMC or not...at any rate...I think we could survive this season on defense with Martin, Hoff, Maatta, Petry, Despres, Bortuzzo, Scuderi.
Perron and and Eberle are locked up for a bit. And in the future we still have all our prime assets (Pouliot, Harrington, Kapanen, 1st rounder.)
I've always been against trading Letang but this is the one instance in which it makes sense both long term and short term. |

Letang for Eberle and Petry, Sutter for Perron is what it breaks down to.

There could be a market for him by the deadline. $3.37 mil cap hit isn't isn't that much. It is to the Penguins and other teams at the cap, but not to teams who have a little room. The league's opinion of Scuderi is also higher than that of Penguins' fans. |

Long Island boy going back to Long Island? It sure looks like they're competitive enough to be an attractive destination. |

Forget about the Big names, we have to get two guys out of this group: Perron, Tlusty, Stewart, Stafford, Fleischmann, N.Foligno and Jagr.
I can't believe I'm saying this but is Marchand available? |
