I don't.

That's fine but Luke's play next MacDonald after the 2014 trade deadline was only a matter of months ago. In fact I thought Luke Schenn was one our better defenseman in the playoffs last season.

I think they are stuck with Macdonald due to the contract but maybe Edmonton would bite. Have to hope.

Teams could have interest in Grossmann or Luke at the deadline. Although as weird as it could sound I think Schultz is your best bet. Cheap, can play and a team wont have to carry him past this season.

- flyer_nutter

Grossmann will attract some interest for sure. His cap hit isnt that bad and teams are always looking for big mean bruisers heading into the playoffs. Teams will certainly line up for Schultz if he keeps playing like this, no doubt there.

I'm guessing that if they are a bubble team at the deadline, at least 1 vet dman will be dealt to a contender

I'm hoping they move two in that situation... there's a really good chance that Ghost won't be the only kid slipping into the lineup next year. Hagg probably has a really good shot.

Take what you can get for Luke Schenn. I don't know how much longer Flyers management can sit and wait for this guy to become what they hoped to when they dealt JVR.

What was management expecting Luke Schenn to become?

I'm guessing when you give up a top 6 winger for him they were hoping he could be a #3 Dman at worst.

I didn't want that post to come across like I have inside access to Flyers brass, but I would have to imagine they player that Luke Schenn is now is not the player they thought they were getting.

No, I think your guess is nothing more than fair.

My concern with moving on from Luke Schenn is this. I don't believe Grossmann will be here beyond his current contract. He has health issues and he's the older player of the two at age 30. Now, I've seen what the Flyers look like when they have pure puck moving defense in the Timonen, Coburn, Carle and Jones era. I don't want the Flyers to have to trade for the nearest warm body like Andrew Alberts again just to have a physical element. This is one of the biggest reasons why they brought in Chris Pronger because of our lack of physical play. Homer wanted a Hammer on the back end. Then Pronger has a career ending injury, so it wasn't long until we traded for Grossmann.

Do I believe Luke Schenn is having a good season? No. However, I think it's extremely short sited to believe a young player is going to stay exactly the same without picking up a thing or two for the rest of his career. I've seen good things from Luke Schenn when paired with the right partner.

I'd also like to point out that I don't believe Samuel Morin will just come in and dominate physically alone.

Oh, apparently David Perron can attract enough interest to get a top line center. Interesting.

Didn't see the game last night, did Coburn play better then Schenn? Does Schenn deserve to sit?

Oilers general manager Craig MacTavish is reportedly looking for a top line centre in return for the 26-year-old.

Berube played 7 defense, which I feel gave us a huge advantage. Good strategy.

Coburn had a goal and an assist.

Schenn blew coverage and allowed a goal when the game was already out of reach.

Coburn was 1st star, LSchenn played 8 minutes.

To be fair, Coburn looked awful in his first half dozen games back from his foot injury, and Schenn has only played two games since his shoulder injury.

Coburn was really good. Schenn was at least partly responsible for both CBJ goals

Oilers are like that annoying guy in your fantasy league who offers two players to you for two better players. Then, he tries to explain to you why this trade will benefit you.
