At one point in the second period the Hawks had more goals than the Oilers had shots.

If you're not running full synthetic, you're wasting money.

With all the high draft choices the Oil have had over the last few years you would think that they might have gotten better but it's sure not looking like it.

Oilers = Leafs 2.0

At the root they suffer from the exact same problems: poor D and poor goaltending.

They should strive to emulate what Calgary is doing. The Flames are a team to watch now. Good goalie, tough forecheck, hard working D.

Last night brought me back to what it was like being a Hawks fan when the Hawks were pathetic and it felt like there was no light at the end of the tunnel. I kinda felt sorry for them. It's amazing, though, that Edmonton has done so little with all of those high draft choices for so long. Really amazing. Like you wouldn't accidentally get better in the process. That organization needs a house cleaning. But their fans are on the McDavid watch, so they've got that going for them.

They lack two-way forwards as well. All the high powered offensive draft picks in the world mean nothing if they lack the defensive aspect of the game.

Have to hang the failures on the GMs in most of these cases. The best teams in the NHL have implemented systems, hired coaches, and signed players that play a strong two way game.

Calgary's recent success is attributable I think to the departure of Feaster, and a fresh outlook on how to win today's style of hockey. It is sad to see storied franchises fall and fail to rebuild.

The Oil are a perfect example of why you don't rush players like TT or McNeill into the NHL before they are ready. They shoved all of these high draft pick forwards into their lineup without a solid veteran structure in place, especially on defence and in goal. These kids all have big ticket contracts now but have grown despondent with the futility of losing every night.

To start, what they need to do is trade Taylor Hall or Eberle or both for some defenceman and a very good goaltender and build from the back end out. Good luck finding a trading partner capable or willing to do that.

Offence starts with the defence. The Oil doesn't seem to get that.

I still haven't gotten the Hockey Streams website yet. Does anyone on here live in the Chicago area have AT&T Uverse and know where the Wolves-Icehogs game can be watched this afternoon (if AT&T has a deal with The U too channel)?

Dammit. I hate Uverse. Back when I had Comcast, I could watch these games. Our new apartment building has a contract with AT&T, so we have to use it. I don't even get the NHL Network...such a disappointment.

I went last night to see the IceHogs play. I was very impressed with the IceHogs play against a very good team , Milwaukee. Darling had a stellar game. He made some great saves. The Hog that also stuck out the most was Hartman. He is very strong for his size. Has no fear going to the net. He has a quick release on his shot. Mash inter, Ross, Comiskey, Bass, Regin, Miskovic also looked good. Stephen John has a wicked shot at the point and plays with an edge ( probably needs another year to hone his skills. Ryan Schnell, Garett Ross, Dahlbeck, brennan and Pokka at times also looked good. The only player that looked out of place was TT . He avoids contact , floats and gets pushed around. There is a reason why he plays only a limited minutes. IMO, he is at least 2 years away from making the big club, if at all. If he doesn't start plaing a physical game and starts avoiding contact, he will be a bust like Beach.

thanks for the report spanky. Hartman is going to be a good one. Hawks are very high on him. Mashinter, Brennan, Cuminsky and Regin are nothing more than organizational depth. They are older and all are pretty much AHL players with some NHL time and should look good against AHL'ers. imo

I hate Uverse as well who dumped the NHL network 2 days before the season started a couple of years back...sadly its still that way...just blows.

So the Bears can thank Lovie and Josh McCown (who's dreadful performance) handed the Bears a game they so badly tried to lose. All this game did was give false hope to Bears ownership or an excuse to keep this staff around as well as cost us a higher pick in the draft.

Meanwhile hope the Hawks keep it going tonight against the Nucks.

Great points. Shows, too, what a really nice job the Hawks have done building their organization from the bottom up. Despite much of the angst over some of the moves and lack of moves the front office has made (or not made), there's not many organizations I'd trade places with right now.
