Ur nuts, bc Yakapov is on a horrible team but has loads of offensive talent that could mesh well w/JT..... Oh and I think he's only 20yrs old too...

edit: Dal Colle on JT's LW & Yakapov on his RW would be lethal for yrs....

Wheres Okposo in your edit?

People on here have a tendency to fall in love with "names" in the NHL. Ask yourself this........if Yakupov was such a cant miss, how is it that Edmonton is desperately trying to move him?

On a line with Nielsen and or Bailey. They have definite chemistry. Either way if we did make that trade(which we won't) you let the chips fall where they may. Yakupov could be that winger we are looking for? Kid has all world talent. Unfortunately for Edmonton they're in a bad situation so we are not seeing what that kid has. The times I've watched him he has had elite talent. There's no denying it.

Ovechkin has all world talent, but was like a -60 last year, and will never win the cup. I personally dont think you trade your best blue chip dman for Yakupov who's knock is his play away from the puck. The last thing JTs line needs is a defensively irresponsible player. Dal Colle wilil be the LW for JT in a few years.

I like the lineup as is right now.........they roll 4 lines, hard!!!

Its ok if 1 or 2 players are a minus on team, as long as the team has other type players to play a defensive game. Heck if isles didn't sign Kumi & Grabo there will still be issues of defense on the F's... Isles added depth which extends the lines to be even better which shows.....

im not even sure what we are discussing at this point. Yes Kumelin and Grabo are great pick ups. I just dont like Yakupov and my point was just because he's a dynamic offensive talent, doesnt mean hes a good fit.

Guess case in point is if Capitals had a better G thru the years w/a bottom 6 better and maybe 1 or 2 defensive dman, Ovi could have taken that team further than there 1st or 2nd round outs that they have been accustom too. So having 1 player who is a dynamic offensive threat is nice to have....

So u wouldn't want another offensive threat on JT's line????

Edit: Just bc the Oilers are a bad team currently and there not sure how to use him, doesn't mean he's damaged goods, kids only 20yrs old (I believe)

The Oilers have elite players on the top two lines for Yakupov to play with. What statistic do you see that makes him elite? I dont think he's ever broke 20 goals. I like Kulemin on the top line right now.......he's a big body, who can play both ends.

Sidenote : Ovi isnt ever winning the cup......

Im sure they would rather trade Yakupov over Eberle, but the Oilers are not in a position of strength. They have sucked long enough and are desperate to upgrade their blueline. You and I both know, you gotta give to get....
- kindlyrick

I would swap Reinhart for eberle. Don't think EdM would

Oilers top line is Hall-RNH-Eberle so who is Yakapov going to play with? They just drafted Draisatil which I believe is there 3C for now, but there are a team that has many holes, which is not Yakapov's problem.

Lets just leave it alone, bc u think that Yakapov is not elite, he's not now but can be on another well-rounded team. Remember Nino, he's slowly putting up numbers on a good Wild team.... And I think Yakapov is better than Nino.....

At this point in time I have no desire to even consider any trades. this is a very young and talented team with many key new additions. They are just starting to gel. in addition they are also showing signs that they are not only learning how to win but how to play together. So even though on paper there may be opportunities to improve the team I'd prefer we continue to watch them mature and grow together this season and then maybe evaluate them near the deadline.

one more thing. We also have to consider that this team has been constructed to continue to produce talent in waves. So trades of future impact players for present impact players come at the expense of disrupting that steady flow of incoming talent. Such moves need to be not only carefully considered but also looked at with a highly critical eye.

Interesting and well-said. Of course, Snow has already disrupted the next wave by trading away their early round picks in this upcoming, bountiful draft. Also, if the Isles continue to play well, even their later round picks will be late in each round. As deep as this upcoming draft is, it will be a real test for the Islander scouts to try to find someone who eventually even makes it to the big team.

I don't think he's our best defensive prospect number one. Yakapovs Defensive game can be taught. You make it sound like the guy is a grizzled veteran he's 20 yrs old. Like I mentioned in the post you replied to and other ones I don't want anything changed but I wouldn't be opposed to yakupov if the price were right and snow did it but I'm not looking for it to happen. We are eight games over 500 in November and just beat one of the best teams in the league back to back. I'm fine with the way things are.

While we may not have many picks in this coming draft we have essentially an entire roster under contract for next year with room for Reinhart and/or pulock to come up next year along with Dal Colle on the way. With the cap space to sign Boychuk and our RFAs we are in amazing shape to continue to add to this team in the future. In a world where teams frequently have to move players due to cap space we are in unbelievable shape here. This team will continue to get better.

Trading those picks away is all the more reason to be careful with trades involving future impact players. Mayfield, Pedan, Reinhart and Pullock are all players who should be filking major roles within 4-5 years. Definitely agree our scouts have their work cut out for them!

Who's the best d prospect then? Reinhardt is going to develope into a top 3.

Plucking right they're 8 games over 500. That home and home was huge. Talk about a confidence boost. The boys can hang with anyone in the league.
