oh?! thats what this convo is about?
(frank) i am glad they didnt do it.. it was a (frank)ing stupid tradition anyways
what the (frank) are they? hockey players or shriners in the christmas parade? - Dozzer
this little "ceremony" is in keeping with all the things that are so important in society today... you know like
i) every kid in kid's sports getting a trophy.... "oh how nice Johnny... you got a trophy for finishing 13th out of 14! what a champ!
ii) "no child left behind" - where we'll water down the measurement criteria to the point of there not being a test at all
iii) non-fat milk... why not just drink water
the list goes on and on...
so its okay for approximate 2000 paying ticketholders to disrespect the other patrons, the team and game itself by not getting or even trying to get to their seats on time... but its offensive for the team to skate off after a win.
I hope Cherry goes to town on this on Saturday. |

Lets look back at the week the was....Kessel gets called out for not doing a stupid interview after the buffalo game. Over the next four days, he's out in front of the media giving answers that go beyond his usual. Then the Nashville game happens and he's out in front again.
Now onto last night, the Leafs are up heading into the 2nd intermission, the building is as silent as it was in the Nashville game. Whoever it was, in the dressing room that got his whole team to agree to this "us against the world" mentality, convincing his whole team to do it, whoever stepped up and was that voice, is the true leader of this team.
And as i said, if it was him, it was nice to see him START to show some balls, because too often he was the one backing away from the limelight and gives the impression he doesn't care.
Call me out if you must, but if it was him, all I can say is its about time. - mykokes

If Lafleur is Blake, then Gretzky is....? - hscesq
Gretzky was still close to a ppg player at 39.
Lafleur would be more like stamkos imo.
Mario was leading the league in scoring for most of his 36 year old season if I do recall, hell he took 3 years off and came back and was still fricking dominant.
I don't believe players from past years really become less in a different era. You might see certain guys from past eras fit better in different eras, or fit in a little worse. Rod Langway would've been a defensive beast in this era, he was really good at blocking shots.....and the first pass up the ice. In fact most d-men today seem to resemble his style of play more than anything.

couldn't say this better. Taking the side of the leafs for the fans being 'mean' is a complete joke. This franchise is rated the worst in sports...yet charges the most. But fans can't be angry????
50 years not even a final appearance. Only team in 10 years to not make the playoffs in a full season.....fans didn't start throwing jerseys etc until recently. Imagine the leafs played in Philly? They'd all quit. Bunch of sucks with no leadership. A leader would come out, say the jersey throwing is wrong but at the same time they deserve it. This team is so gutless and entitled it 's gross. Oh, we beat Tampa, now we can dog it for the next little while is what they are thinking. - clark_griswold
the fans have every right to be angry/mad/disappointed after the last X years of futility.
the media does not... the media gets paid because of the fans and should report on the games and team... not make social commentary the first portion of their jobs. |

Lafleur sucked. Gretzky rocked.
It's pretty simple, really. |

Stamkos makes sense to me, yes. I am in no way comparing Lafleur to either Gretzky or Lemieux. Not sure where that even came from. But minimizing Lafleur's career because the equipment was smaller back then? That's a classic. |

I also hate eating the single serve yogurt without a spoon, trying to squeeze it all into the pie hole and what not is a real bother. |

lafleur career high is 136 gretzky is almost 80 points higher...
So if lafleur = blake
Gretzky = Blake + 79 (to be exact)
Simple math really... oops forgot you are the grammar guy.... |

I've done that and have used coffee stirrers as straws to slurp up my soup, and as chopsticks for the chunks in the soup. Ive also used carrots as spoons for yogurt
