Guy scores 40 goals every year. Not sure what more you want from him.
- hscesq

But he's fat! I don't care what the fitness tests said at training camp, he's fat!

And he has bad hair!

And he doesn't spit out tired cliches after losses!

I get the frustration, don't think I'm optimistic. I'm not. But like I've said to you before and others, while Kessel, Phaneuf and Bozak have been here for 5 years, most (75%) of this team hasn't. This year isnt nearly as bad as it was when Phil first got here for starters. We have to stop dumping the past 10 years of ineptitude on this group. I'm over the game 7 loss to Boston, since most had us getting smoked in 4 games. And last year, well, that I will hold them accountable for, but again, almost 50% of the team is different. I said last night, I don't have a favourite player on this team because I didn't think this team had any character. If I'm guilty of being optimistic, its optimism that someone on this team, I'm hoping its Kessel, is taking the reins and leading, showing some god damn character.

The team is different, but it's still terrible. I know i'm harsher on this team than you or a few others on here; but realistically, who on this team do you see making a meaningful LONG term impact? Not many. I had them losing to boston in 7 so that was OK to me, except obviously the ending hurt alot. Last year i was still optimistic even after the 18 wheeler off the cliff V2. it's this off season that nailed the coffin for me. Not one significant move...nothing. It just is disgusting how they bought a bunch of crap 3rd/4th liners, kept their captain and every other piece of the core and some bought in to it as optimism and 'depth'. I love the leafs don't get me wrong, but man this team is useless.

Tanking doesn't guarantee success (for every Pit or Chi there is a FLA, CBJ, NYI). However, this team has proven over and over and over that they can't get it done. Stupidity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I'm glad to see jerseys etc. thrown on the ice. Again i was never negative until July or so (even through the crappy last years of the 80s, and the late 90s all through the late 2000s); and now i see things from the other side. We need to kill this core of the leafs so a new direction can come about. Otherwise, get used to the same players who are all locked in to 6 year deals doing this same crappy act the whole time.

The reaction to the non-salute is massively entertaining. I hope they never salute again. (frank) the fans, play for the boys!
- iTOLDu

nope.... they should salute after the next game... but should have a banner saying they are saluting the fans...

then drop their pants and moon the media.... with little SImmons and Cox faces on each cheek.

Snubbing the fans is not character, it's stupidity.

Not at all. I'm glad to see it.

Sure, show it during the game, give a damn on the ice, not against a fan base.

Yep, let's attack our leading scorer for the past 4 years.

Komarov is a God.

- Atomic Wedgie

Komarov is awesome bud. But when Kessel cares and wants to take over a game, he can be truly amazing.

If they raise their sticks on Saturday night, it will only be because they were forced to do it by management.

Phaneuf will have been told to do it.

So if they do it, Phaneuf isn't a leader.

And Kessel is so fat.

Lupul is banging teammates' wives!

They have run players out of town before and coaches, why poke the bear that feeds you?

It's really annoying when the media wants something to be an issue so badly and it just isn't. It's even worse when they attribute their invented outrage to the fans. "Salute-gate" is not a thing. Even if it was an intended snub it couldn't matter any less.

and this is why i find it laughable that you say he can be our captain/leader. Hell of a talent and i'm a fan...but he's not a leader in ANY sense of the word. He's a pat kane, without the toews, keith, seabrook etc.

I'm going to chalk this one up to a dig at the old comical assumption that Kessel is a 40 goal scorer despite the fact he's never scored 40 goals.

I have no problem with the non-salute. If the ACC fans and media are being knobs, (frank) em.
I wish all the Oilers fans would "salute " the Oilers in unison. Wouldn't it be great to see 16,000 fans give those sad sacks the finger at the same time?

it's a wonderfully clever ruse to make the media look even more childish and stupid and it worked like a charm!

can you just imagine the outrage, if Kessel scores 40+ this year...

that he didn't score 50? unbelieveable....

if only he wasn't fat... he'd score 60.
