I don't think so. After those two loses many fans and most of the media turned into complete bumholes (me included). I actually commend the team for trying to send the message that they weren't happy with being pissed on.

And wouldn't it be nice if most of the usual media douche's who CONSTANTLY slam the Leafs and are NEVER held accountable, see limited access to the team. Anytime there is something positive to report half of the those (frank)s can't be found.

- As_I_See_It

Or they drum up some goalie controversy....or they drum up some player controversy, or they drum up some stupid Eric Staal trade rumour, or they say the team the Leafs beat took the Leafs lightly, or they ask is Dion a #1 d-man. After the Boston win, Jeff Blair for example decided to discuss Gardiner and Rielly and their lack of progression. This morning it was all about the team not giving a salute.

You know what it says to me about the core? That they actually do care what we think. That they actually have some pride in themselves. Misdirected or not, if Phil is truly behind it, then finally he's showing some leadership. Misguided or not, finally he's showing some balls.

No effing kidding.

Dominating win last night against the #2 team in the league.

Goalie played well.

Phaneuf played well.

JVR had two beauties.

Our worst contract got the team going with a goal early.

OHMYEFFINGGODTHEYDIDN'TWAIVETHEIRSTICKSINTHEAIRATTHEENDOFTHEGAME!!!!!

Every idiot residing in Leafs Nation needs to go have a good hard look in the mirror right now.

Want to know why absolutely nobody wants to play here?

Because lazy idiot media in this town create tempests in teapots for you to react to.

And lo and behold, you always do.

It's not Leafs Nation.

It's Trained Seal Nation.

Let's just drop the fake outrage.

Nobody actually cares.

it has nothing to do with the fact that it was TBs 4th game in 6 nights.. nothing whatsoever

So.... what has to happen before Dion gets his C removed and they go with 3 A's until Phil steps up and claims his rightful place as Captain of the Maple Leafs, King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm?

i wish i had your optimism. Do the fans not have a right to be pissed off after 50 years of absolute garbage? Im 33 years old. Die hard fan my whole life but i've completely had it. THis team is so far away from a cup and that is simply inexcusable considering they have been the worst franchise in the nhl for over 10 years. Just complete crap and the most expensive crap in the league to boot.

thank god i get free tickets to these games...i'd never pay to see them again

- clark_griswold

I get the frustration, don't think I'm optimistic. I'm not. But like I've said to you before and others, while Kessel, Phaneuf and Bozak have been here for 5 years, most (75%) of this team hasn't. This year isnt nearly as bad as it was when Phil first got here for starters. We have to stop dumping the past 10 years of ineptitude on this group. I'm over the game 7 loss to Boston, since most had us getting smoked in 4 games. And last year, well, that I will hold them accountable for, but again, almost 50% of the team is different. I said last night, I don't have a favourite player on this team because I didn't think this team had any character. If I'm guilty of being optimistic, its optimism that someone on this team, I'm hoping its Kessel, is taking the reins and leading, showing some god damn character.

Didn't look to be an equipment problem for Kessel. Unclear what the issue is, but he's gone and doesn't look to be coming back.

I say Shanny ripping him a new one for that sideshow last night after game..

I think boys we're seeing who the real captain of this team is. I'm starting to think its Phil. And you know what? Good on them for not doing the stupid gay salute. And (frank) the fans at the ACC. Worst fans in the NHL.
- mykokes

its probably as simple as the guys on the ice turning around after the congrats line in front of the net... and not seeing anyone in the first fifteen rows of seats... you know the empty sushi bowl.

seriously its this kind of 'over reporting' of absolutely nothing that makes toronto a laughing stock... not the team.

i have no doubt that there will be more debate - probably lead by Rosie Dimanno about the emotional damage done to the fans who missed the salute - then about the game or the team itself.

I don't actually give a flying Boimstruck if it was or not.

You want to talk about Tampa being right for the plucking?

Great.

But can we please all drop this sheer stupidity about how not raising their little hockey sticks last night is conclusive proof that Dion Phaneuf isn't a leader, Phil Kessel is selfish, and this team will never win?

FFS, it's just pathetic.

naw... only reason the Leafs win games is because they have "an easier schedule"...

that whole commentary sums up the media that covers the Leafs.

"Yes Folks!.... you heard it hear first... on TVx.... the Leafs have the easiest schedule in the NHL".

The reaction to the non-salute is massively entertaining. I hope they never salute again. (frank) the fans, play for the boys!
