If it was a collective decision then why was Franson heading to centre ice ready to salute the fans? Bunch of BS. - LeafMan
who cares really
salute if you win
salute if you lose
dont do either, i dont care
it was started by Rangers - so its not like its part of the heritage.

what makes you think it was Philip's idea? - 1979AD
Dion and Phil were talking in the pile by bernier. Phil obviously said no lets not do it.
You could see his facial expression and hand gestures.
I dont care about the salute. But dion asked the team at the end. |

I'm pointing out that the core is dysfunctional, I don't care as well for it. This is more about the character of this team. |

i don't believe for a second this was something they changed. As a player/team you change things for your preperation (when i went on a big scoring slump etc i would tape my stick black instead of white, etc or put my left skate on first after always putting on my right first). Again you change for PREPERATION. Changing after you find success (after a win) makes no sense. This was just a snub back at the heat they've been getting. A change would have been sending out guys in a different order for pre-game skate or changing a pre game routine. This is just a cover up for the blow-back they are getting. |

They should get their story straight before they try to BS the fans. - LeafMan
They've apologized and explained it which to me means they've recognized that it wasn't' the smartest way to handle things. We already knew most of these guys were dumb though so I guess mea culpe for not expecting it.
If a post win salute falls in the forest and no one notices does it really make a sound? |

is it? they went 6 - 1 - 1 and thought they were the kings of the world. Then got shat on by the worst team in the league and embarrassed by a good team in back to back games.
Decided to change the celebrating of wins to try and keep in perspective (i.e. not act like you won the cup after every win) - if it is part of some bigger changes in that regard it really isn't that strange.....and certainly not significant one way or the other. Pure speculation on my part of course - but it seems like it could have been part of a bigger movement/change ideal. |

100% agree.
I don't care if they do it or not. But you have to be smarter than that.

Ducks Ryan Getzlaf yesterday as he comes out to do interviews: ‘I wasn’t going to do speak today, but I didn’t want it to turn into another Kessel incident.’

Possibly just was used to routine as he was the only one. Or they didn't tell him to make him look stupid. |

Points don't make a good dman. That's all he's good for, but at the end of the day he's a big factor in many goals against.
Some nights Id rather see the team go a man short than play him. |
