Not sure about that. And it's on the PK. It's not man on man coverage.

Nothing to do with his contract.

Umberger has potentially been the worst player in the league this season. Seriously

The panthers always beat us. They are to us what the rangers are to the flyers

Who is Grossmann's partner? Is there a chance that with the team down a goal, that they're going to be taking some chances, and need a good defensive defenseman that is good at breaking up plays, in case that leads to some good chances against? Grossmann is paired with Striet. You want Streit out there in that situation. Schenn and MacDonald overall, played well. No reason why you can't have them out there. This is just another case of pretty much questioning anything and everything.
- MJL

I'm going to break my rule just this once and respond to you. Have you ever heard of the concept of shortening your bench? Grossmann has the least offensive skill of the Flyers dmen, he should be glued to the bench when the Flyers are trailing late in a game.

We now return to our regularly scheduled program of ignoring MJL completely

Not really. We can beat the Rangers... @home. Its the Lightning that give us problems, even when they arent that good.

I have watched the video. It's a rotation in that situation against the umbrella formation. You're assuming that Umberger should have stayed on that side. I don't know that to be the case. Umberger followed the puck over as he and Vandevelde were in a 1-1 formation. I'm not sure what the rotation should be in that play. It's very possible that Umberger did what he was supposed to do which is pressure the puck, while Vandevelde was supposed to rotate to the weak side.

before you comment with the Jesus comments, maybe it helps to know exactly what the coverage rotation is.

I think as a fan you just want your best players out during crunch time. I personally would have liked to have seen Schultz and Coburn. You can't pick apart everything and I get that.
I felt Mason should have started last night. The team was 0-3, he is our # 1 goalie, he was spectacular the night before, and yet he sits. That did not make sense. Emery is a back up and nothing more. He has played 2 games of this 4 game skid. Our #1 has to be called on, especially when he is playing well

Laughton had more ice time than Vinny! But Umberger played 2 more minutes than both, which is odd because Lecavalier looked pretty good last night and Umberger was still meh.

That's incorrect. You act like you still don't have to defend when you're behind in a game. A defenseman like Striet is going to be activated, and moving up aggressively on the play. Chances are there will be some odd man rushes against when that happens. Have you ever heard of that concept?

In another post you claim that Schenn and MacDonald shouldn't be out there because one has a sore shoulder and the other hasn't played in weeks. So that's Grossmann, Schenn, and MacDonald who shouldn't be out there.

I also noticed that Snider & Clarke were not there. I think that the absence of those two, as well as Bonnie & Carl, left the focus in the proper place-on Eric & John LeClair.

Last night was for good memories, and having Snider, Clarke or Lindros' parents booed or even there, would have taken attention from them.

Snider was in the stands.

yep, and it hurts even more when you consider what they gave up for him.
The coach still rolls him out ( on a gurney) for PP time

Couple of thoughts....was standing with Don Seleski when winner went in.....was bang on when he said it's a simple b&g play for Macdonald ....you have to make that play at that time in the game.....I won't get into his comments on Luke Schenn, although he said he is a nice kid.....impressed with Laughton, faster then I thought.....Giroux and Vorecek are world class. Well, off to Allentown, how about those Phantoms.....

This team has one legitimate LW right now in Umberger. Who is he going to bench Umberger for? Who is going to take his place?
